Hi petrutms,

I disagree with this as you can now send SMS's to home phones in the UK so all contacts should be displayed in SMS/MMS phonebook, regardless of whether they have just home, mobile or work numbers. All my previous firmwares (R2A041, R2L001), the entire phonebook has always been displayed correctly and this applied to the Speed Dial List too. Now I have R2AE033, numbers are definitely missing.

When I use the normal phonebook function, all numbers are correctly displayed. When I send a text/MMS, numbers displayed include contacts with just a Home phone number, Just mobile, Home and Mobile, Just work and all other combinations. The missing numbers include contacts with correctly set mobile numbers, home and mobile and just home.

I am wondering if the syncronise function is tagging some of these files differently and perhaps this is why some people are experiencing this and others are not?

@petrut..

Well, that's weird, IMO:

in some countries, e.g. as Italy, there is the recent availability of a terrestrial SMS service: anyone with a fixed phone line (if paying the extra service) and a peculiar home phone (with screen) CAN send & receive any SMS...

So, why I couldn't send an SMS to a fixed phone?

hmm.... I thaught this bug was in the older version, I read it somewhere in the forum, which have the exactly problem as yours, but it was the older version, not R2AE033. Maybe can check again whether you have the right version

Ok. As I am thinking that it could be a file problem I tried to syncronise my phone. I have only added one number to a new contact since my last sync, but I have upgraded my firmware from R2L001 to R2AE033. When I performed the upgrade, it correctly copied the new number from the phone to my laptop, but it then copied all numbers back so I had duplicates of pretty much all of them. ARSE !!!

Anyway I then deleted all contacts from my phone and performed a sync again. All my numbers got copied back correctly and they are now all visible on all phonebook lists including SMS and speed dial.

So if anyone is having a similar problem to me, then sync all your contacts to your PC. Delete them off the phone and then copy them back. Once back in your phone, they should all be visible again.

Ok final problem. How do I get 999 back in the SOS list? Is this a language setting? I currently have language file EU_2 installed. Should I look to install EU_1 or some other file?

Cheers

@bugg

I do have R2AE033 installed as per my third post on this thread. If you have the same firmeware installed, your phone is also SIM/Operator free and you are based in the UK can you check your firmware versions with mine and confirm any differences.

The "TurnOffBluetooth" message is like that on R2L...its just the message box is not wide enough to accomodate spaces...

anyway there is no sms service for landline operators here... U are right, now all numbers are displayed... strange. I`ve syncronized the phone with outlook 2003 now and is a difference. Probably this has to do with sync operation.

Ok a new question for you all. Do any of you have a completely SIM Free and not Service Provider Customised phone that has always been this way. If you have, can you check your SOS numbers in your phonebook special numbers folder, to see if 999 is included. If it is, please can you confirm your Software info as I need this information to update my phone.

To access your software info, enter from the main phone screen >*<<*<* (<> = left right joystick). This will take you to the main service menu and from there select service info and then software info. Mine is as displayed on the first page of this thread.

I think that you are missing something obvious here. It will show the landlines contacts, but it will not show contacts that have no number associated! Which is probably the case after you sync with Outlook (I have around 50 contacts with no phone number in my address book).

I too am missing 999 and have US-style address labels with R2AE033. I'm sure it wasn't like this with R2L, but I didn't even notice the change until I saw this thread and checked.

I updated my unbranded phone with SEUS. Customisation info:

I get a rather weird situation whereby searching the phonebook for a particular contact whose name's got both first two characters on the same keypad on the handset (by pressing down the joystick in order to progress to the next letter of the surname in sequence quickly) restarts the phone. It all goes **puff**, screen turns grey (as in, phone switched off), then comes back on again and displays the welcome logo etc. Applies to all the contacts in the phone that fall within this category (first two letters on the same keypad) and is really easy to duplicate every time. It is important to stress that this only happens if one does it quickly (pressing the first character of the contact then down the joystick onto the next letter in line), as in ... REALLY FAST. And another thing, apparently this messes up with the syncing process somehow since the handset gives error messages relating to date (CSFMDate entries) to the desktop after the crash.
