They are in a good position undoubtedly.
They are by no means as large as the other companies in terms or market share but to be making high end handsets and also be selling them well puts them in an envious position.
I have read about the S700 being described as the flagship model for SE but I would say it was the V800, however, there are almost no rivals for these high-end handsets.
I would imagine that Siemens is now hoping to mirror the Sony Ericsson model by creating a joint venture with Sharp/NEC thus creating a rival for SE. It would be interesting to see how this plays out.
Although I don't think Siemens-Sharp sounds as good as SE |

I thought SE might be third or fourth in market share.

We wont know the exact market share until Gartner releases its figures from all the companiers. However with Samsung sales dropping in the 4Q and Siemens doing badly again, it is quite possible that SE may have gained some marketshare
Jan Wareby commented briefly on the topic, saying that he estimated the marketshare at just above 7%, and stated that 2005 would be the year for SE to grow significantly in market share. Something we all guessed with all the entry level and low end phones they are releasing! |

@ thanasis
When does Gartner release these figures, quarterly?
According to the Gartner website, SE rose to 3rd place in Q204 Doesn't say where they are at the moment.

3th place seems impossible.
moto will have sold abit more then samsung, and they sold a lot more then SE.
i read on a few sites that SE has become the 5th. but how can they be sure.

Last year SE was leap-frogged by LG and went from 5th - 6th.
I am waiting to see if they have managed to claw back that position (5th) though I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. |

No mention of Siemens although Samsung had a quarter on quarter decline according to The Times:

and Motorola are due to release results later on today.
I wonder how the rankings will look by the end of today? There might be a few surprises

Who wants to bet at SE being No 4?
