Jan, what do you mean by the new version of the T68. It seems to me se hasn't yet released a roadmap for their new high spec "phone" (rather than pda/phone combo P800).
Do you know something we don't or are you just assuming they will get around to it?
As for the speed issue of the 3970 vs 3870, the os is not optimised for the Xscale processor, but future apps may be. At that point the faster chip will help. Also if you consider that the original iPaqs could be updated to PocketPC 2002 it seems likely that if/when a new version of the handheld os comes out, the 3970 might very well be updatable to it, and then it will take advantage of its faster chip... | |

Microsoft told, that they will not built a new version right away.
Of course it will come in the future,..their reason for not doing a new version right away,..I find quite ok,...as they already have different versions of windows and so on. It would take a lot of money/time to maintain these.
So I dont believe we'll see a new one right away,..but yes, of course, WHEN that new system comes, then the H3970 will work far better.
About the release of a "new" T68,..hehe,..no, I dont know, but people are talking,..and I believe it will come this year.
Mostly because I dont think SE will want to be left behind,..with the new Nokias coming out with 4096colors, java,.....and also because the T68 is very popular,..and I think they wanna keep it that way.
I know SE havent spoken about a "new model",..and there wasnt any talk about it on Cebit either,..but look at the 6610,..that suddenly "popped-out" of nowhere.....Nokia hadnt told about this model either.
I looked at the P-800 in Amsterdam,..and SE didnt say a word about the memory-stick, hehe. The day after, they showed the new model with memory-stick duo !
These guys are just very good in "keeping secrets" hehe
