This is the first time i give the comment to forum i hope you will happy to get it. i would like to share my experience about storing mp3 on K700i
for me i use the rate 56kbs(i can store up more than 20) and i think the sound is acceptable with loud speaker and also with earjack
but u must convert mp3 with Windows Media Player 10 coz i already compare at the rate 56kbs between audio catalyst WMP 10, nero and mp4 and i think WMP 10 is the best and i thnik if you think with WMP10 is acceptable then why not try to make your k700i become mp3 storage
in order to change the rate of your MP3 encoder in WMP10 you nedd to change in regedit here the tips i got from other post
Enter the following in the regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE
MicrosoftMediaPlayer/Settings/MP3Encoding
Change the dword to the rate you want (low , Medium,
)
320Kbps DWORD:0004e200
256Kbps DWORD:0003e800
224Kbps DWORD:00036b00
192Kbps DWORD:0002ee00
160Kbps DWORD:00027100
128Kbps DWORD:0001f400
112Kbps DWORD:0001b580
64Kbps DWORD:0000fa00
56Kbps DWORD:0000dac0
if you have tried then give your idea to me too
sorry go spelling |

i use 48 or 56KB/s when creating tones for downloading, to be honest, when the sound is being played through a mono speaker in a phone, there won't be much difference between 56 and 320

I have a quiery concerning how to download cd tracks onto my K700i. I have a USB cord but my phone does not seem to recognise the CD track as an audio file. How do i convert/change the CD track format to an mp3 format or another format recognised by the mobile? I am using WMP 9. Any suggestions would help!!!!!!!

You need a software to extract the audio from Cd and convert it to mp3. I use CDex.

In response to your PM:
After downloading the software and installing it, launch the application and it should be able to detect your CD-ROM drive. Make the CD you want to rip is in the drive. CDex should display the audio tracks in the CD.
If you want to specify the mp3 settings, click Options Menu > Settings. A configuration window should appear. Under Encoder Tab you can specify the settings for the mp3 -- bitrate, mode (mono or stereo), sample rate, etc. The target path can be changed also under Filenames tab. Wav > MP3 path is for the converted files while Recorded Tracks are for the files ripped from CD. Click OK when finished.
Select the track(s) you want to convert and click the second button on the right (Extract Cd tracks to compressed audio). This should convert this track to mp3 right away and put them in the path you specified.
I hope this helps.

I find the mp"/4 player in the K700 fairly good and the headphones are acceptable. Therefore I was not happy when I heard the difference between mp4 at 80 and mp4 at 128. I'd rather have less tracks that sound good. The K700 audio is good enough t ohear the difference, with any kind of music. Also the difference between mp3 and mp4 in filesize is important but nowhere to 50% as some users report.
This experience thought me that an mp3 player with limited capacity is not what I want, I don't want to be administrating the collection on the player all the time. It's all (iPod or alike) or nothing (flash). So not even the 256MB of a memory stick will do. |

I agree, the K700i is not sufficient as a full-pledged mp3 player. I put music there for cases when I get bored (while waiting or something) and the radio signal is not good. I use 56Kbps mono mp4s - not really perfect but good enough to pass the time and no annoying distortions.

I agree with your agreement of course, but disagree on the radio. I find it excellent in both reception and sound quality.
I can of course vary a lot depending on how the FM-band is populated in your area. The radio does not have a local/dx switch which could have made an important difference.
Also a radio in a mobile does make a lot of sense, since it's music stream is endless so to speak, the battery drainage is acceptable and you get to know new music so you know what to buy to put in your real audio device. |

Dela i don΄t agree with you...with mp4 at 80 or 61 kbs, obtained with CLI encoder from dbpoweramp, you can easily obtain files 50% or even less of the original mp3, and the soud is very good, same or better than the best fm radio signal
An example?? I converted a 9,3mb mp3 file (194kbs bitrate) into a 3,12 mb mp4 (61 kbs bitrate) - the sound is great.
But...i tried converting with other codecs suplied in the dbpoweramp dl central, and with itunes, and the results were worse - the files were always much bigger
So, for me, CLI encoder from dbpoweramp is the way to go...i always listen to music at the gym with files obtained by this method |

@DeLa, you must have misunderstood me or I wasn't too clear. Anyway I didn't say that the K700i FM Radio is bad - I meant that in case the signal on my FM Radio is bad, I can still have the mp4s to listen to.

@asmara, I can't think of a way to make the transfer speed faster that's actually a hardware limitation. I think bluetooth is faster compared to cable or IR.

@asmara - if your using SE's file manager, its toooooo slow, try using third party software like K700DateiManager - http://k700.hitziger.net
or FMA - http://fma.sourceforge.net
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence of your attempt !! |
