Blast and damnit!!

Sorry guys. There are a few other sites out there charging 550+ vat.
I've taken the charger cable from my phone and am soundly thrashing my feet!
If that phone goes under 500 all-in I'm having it!

BTW I wasn't having a dig at anyone for the price of the phone.
I've seen it in the flesh and its worth half the price on looks alone ...

Sorry if I seemed a bit rude. I take it you are less than totally taken by the phone, given your worth half the price remark. I want to know what the network subsidies will be like.

You're opening a can of worms there mate ...

Expansys has Nokia 7650 for £528 [inc VAT ]
or £293 with connection to O2.

Could we expect the same from the P800.

I really want to see what the network subsidies will be like, cause the networks have to know that T68i + communicam, Nokia 7650 and the P800 will be using MMS, with pics and so be high revenue customers. So how far are they going to be willing to go to capture them....

Best bet will be to wait until networks have MMS up and running, and are selling the 7650 and T68i + MCA20 combos. See how much the subsidise those products and figure they will do the same for the P800. Or maybe someone around here has some inside knowledge....

I think it would be a bad idea to try and predict the price of the P800.
The mobile market is still quite volatile and these are really the first range of proper multimedia phones (well I suppose the t68 counts).

Also take into account that it's gonna cost a ton when it first comes out so they can make as much as possible from the techno-wannabes.
Personally I might try to force myself to wait until after X-mas, the price will have come down considerably by then and I should be able to pick one up on a network for around £250.

I also wouldn't wanna rush out and pre-order one or get it the day of release. Just cause it looks great on the website and 'can do all these great things', I'd rather wait until I hear some good things from ppl who've actually used it.
After all just cause it looks great on paper it might have loads of flaws.

(Plus who knows, you might rush out and buy one... only for them to bring out the P800i 2 mths later ).

@MrHat: Yeah, Sony MS is quite expensive, but it's nice to have a MS slot into the phone. Good feature. There are ppl that are satisfied with 8MB

Well the cheapest I can see for a blue 128Mb stick is £60 from Scan.
But then u pay for P&P as well.

I can see the supplied 16Mb running out very quick, at least 64-128 is gonna be needed for storing decent sized images and music.

I suppose that you could sell your t68i as well tho.
Many shops do a good price if you trade in your old phone, and a t68 is still gonna be worth a bit in a few months time.

As for MS prices I think some of you have the devices capabilities slightly confused. The P800 comes equiped with a Memory Stick DUO slot. Duo memory sticks are actual half the size of normal memory sticks. They are only usable via a small adapter that makes them normal MS sized. Unfortunatly there is no way to shrink a normal MS down to MS duo size. There for when thinking of pricing on MS for the P800 one must consider that only Sony will be releasing thes MS duo and they will probably not be readily available for some time. They are being cointroduced with the P800 from what I can gather. and if the schedual on which previous MS size increments have been released (VERY SLOWLY) we may have to wait some time (4 -8 months) before mem sticks greater than the included 16 or mabey 32 (if we are lucky) make it onto the market. and even then they will be very expensive (a lack of competition (sony is the only manufactuerer of MS Duo) will make this expansion option the most expensive of the lot.

Personaly I wish they had included a MMC/SD slot instead 128m MMC cards are readily available and not that expensive. But this is a Sony product and you cant blame them for using the most hightech product they are releasing to push thier memory standard. in any case I am happier with an expansion option than without. This phone is gunna be rockin!

On an aside I just had an epiphany about how great this phone will be I will be traveling and studying in europ all next year and I realized with this phone whenever I see something cool I can snap a picture and email it back to my freinds at home! it will be amazing to have a log of my adventures via all these great little photos and emails sent back home (my bills are going to be enourmous but hey its prolly cheaper than film!)
