I manage to SEE some battery powered celfone chargers at my turf, and that was 'bout 3 years ago! Yes, it runs in (2) AA batteries . . . Though it ONLY accomodate mostly of those Nokia branded fones, and as I asked one of the sales personnel, he told me that IT can charge a drained fone to it's MAX ONLY in 3 uses  and that WILL completely depend as well with the brand of battery you are using with the portable charger . . . he made his basis when he used an Energizer and a Duracell branded AA batts ! | |

I've got one of those that runs off 4 'aaa' batteries, I'm sure you can still get them from shops. What I do as well is if I'm using that, I put 4 rechargeable batteries in it, so that if I use it, I'm not spending a fortune on non-rechargeable batteries.
