Officially only operators and services is allowed to make upgrades, except p9 for example, where online upgrade is allowed by se.

i think SE can sue you for freely distributing/hosting their propriety files.

i believe the guy than ran callular support posted in one of these thread re his site, and he said the site was upgrading and also experiencing an attack by hackers (hence the fbi warning)

there is nothing illegal about cellular support, your phone is your property and you have to upgrade it or modify as you wish. Will they fine you for scratching your phone, then?

edit: having phone fw is not illegal, just liek you can have nintendo ROMs if you actually own the game. So if you have the phone, you should be allowed to have the files. And it says on cellular-support that you gotta have the phone in order to download the firmware.

Well i get my information from a reliable source and i believe he is correct that SE might try to sue them. This is why SE Fighter arent hosting files "officially"

The question is not here if its illegal or not in first line, more that esato "forum" is not the place to discuss and give advices in "public" for such solutions.

It is not illegal to unlock or flash phones yourself. Posting insctructions on how to do it is definitely allowed. You will lose warranty on your phone but it's your legal right to forgo the warranty. It's probably the files they are hosting that might be an issue.
