I love fireworks.. well maybe just Fire in general.. Long time fire bug, first time arsonist.
People who use fireworks stupidly outside of their own properties however are just that, stupid.
Missuk: we have rules about selling them here only for a very short period before guy fawkes, at any other time of the year they're unavailable. A start I guess. I agree though its annoying when they let them off for days before hand and especially later at night. |

I heard on thursdays evening news that a factory in Denmark that produces fireworks had a accident where the whole place ended up as the BIGGEST BONWAREHOUSE DEVASTATION ppl had to leave there homes, and a fireman died from it :-( these things are a nuisance, rather stupendous to like! I hate it when ppl set them of till 3am even tho the curphew is 11pm :-x

What would you do with that?
Instead of the Houses Of Parliament...the White House?
We would then celebrate Garbage Kimcheeboi Night

missuk: eh I like bright pretty things that involve explosions.. childhood habit I suppose.
Doesn't mean I like when they're not used properly though. If the factory fire was caused by people mis-using fireworks then yes, i'm against that. If it was caused by an accident at the factory, it can happen, if it was caused by something that couldn't be helped, meh, it happens.
Guy Fawkes night here has been a time when families head out to the backyard, have a little, almost safe, fun and enjoyment for a while and bother to all do something together. Maybe that shapes perceptions as well?
I have to say, as kiwis we're pretty damned reckless around each other with fireworks, been to more than 1 party, and more than enough ones at home where "RUN" or "HELL, INSIDE!" was called out at an accidently.. well ok not so much accidently as mistimely lit firework was let off. In most instances they weren't small bangers either.
Again though, in poperly used situations, they're alot of fun. Or at least a good couple of hours enjoyment if planned right. |

when you get older, fireworks are cock. When your a kid its "wow!" and when your 14 or 15 its a chance to ask out that girl you like, but im 22 now and its just pain, every year i always seem to be taking 7 screaming yelling puking kids to the display.

well... I just got in from Frankfurt to Gatwick having flown over SouthEast England and although I normally choose an aisle seat I chose a window seat tonight and the view was fantastic! every where I looked on this clear night I could see bonfires and fireworks being left off. It really is a great night for it.
we're off to our local bonfire tomorrow night and the kids are really looking forward to that!
