The 7610 is just a cheap smartphone.in my opinion,It's just a 6600 with a better cam in an even sillier looking enclosure!and the 6600 that i had the misfortune of buying,was promptly returned for a refund.for a good cam phone,get the k7/s7.if you want a decent smartphone get the p9.. Imo

i think the p series is great for encoding movies on and the screen does help as you can encode a widescreen look to the film or tv show.
i think alot of mobile s are very underrated in this department

I used to having acquired both units back then . . . surely the K700i beats the 7610 by leaps and bounds! The only advantage the Nokia 7610 has is it's expandable memory card slot!

gee, how can you even compare k700i with 7610 ? heh

that soo silly, like comparing ford fiest (k700i) with mercedes C class (7610). 7610 beats k700 anytime in every area. 7610 can e.g. play full screen divx videos, you can see full screen images, you can view/edit/create MS office documents, 7610 has got a _real_ web broswes ,way better camera (to be honest, even 6230 beats k700 in terms of camera), k700i has got pathetic addressbook and even more useless calendar and PIMs ..

the only downsize of 7610 is there is mono output

the conclusion => get 7610

Aren't the first two statements mutually exclusive?

As for the conclusion; the chap may very well be looking for a mobile that doesn't drink a martini whilst balanced on a unicycle going across Niagra Falls on a wire.

Most of you really make me laugh.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

People here are well known as a die-hard SE fans. Most of them just tried a 7610 for a few times/few minutes without really using it. Do you know what is "using it"?

I can say, 7610 in my opinion is still FAR BETTER than my S700i. Yes, I have got both 7610 and S700i.

Don't cheat, mislead others by just saying "7610 has mono sound" "7610 has gay looking". You all are just telling the main disadvantages of a phone (but I don't think the looking of 7610 is bad, it still way better than cool S700, which cool doesn't mean nice but too cold, I hate such so-called "cyber" looking). First, looking is really a subjective thing. Second, K700i only has 40MB then what can you listen to MP3 with such size in normal use which you may also have to save photos, games, videos, themes, etc.? Don't cheat others and also yourself.

Once others objectively mention the advantages of 7610, you die-hard fans (IMO) just tell others "don't listen to them " which makes me really laugh.

7610 is a Symbian device. You can install many kinds of software including 3D games that advertised by SE. You can even play some of N-Gage games (no comment on legality). You can install QuickOffice to view/edit MS Word, Excel, and view Powerpoint. You can send and receive email with attachment. It supports multi-tasking. It has memory card slot so you can copy/transfer photos taken with your phone VERY QUICKLY to your computer by card reader.

You all just mention what 7610 is missing when it compares with K700 but you all also neglect all missing functions of K700. Is it really fair? No. Yet anyway this forum is like that. People asking such questions will always get the same answer: go for SE, Nokia sucks.

Quite.

You make the point that this is a SE fan forum and yet you seem somewhat shocked that the members here should recommend a SE product over a Nokia product, rather oxymoronic wouldn't you agree?

As I mentioned before, the chap may not be looking for a mobile with all the features you mention and the chap might actually consider the K700 to be of better quality in terms of build quality and value for money. If the chap does want a mobile with the sort of features you describe I would recommend a Pxxx; both of the P800 and the P900 are excellent choices in this regard and have come down in price significantly of late.

Hi, yes of course here SE fans board people would like to promote SE handset but we have to give objective opinion and information instead of just giving unfair arguements.

thiagobs clearly stated that in his country, K700 and 7610 have the same price. I really can't choose to get a K700 if I can get a 7610 with the same amount of money. You may think that 7610 has functions that people may not need but at least it is a smartphone, you can do much more things and also it is multi-tasking. You will know why I prefer 7610 rather than even a S700 after really USING it (assuming that you really know how to use the phone by reading user manual).

Also, I have to tell you all that, IMO, 7610 has far better photo quality than K700. Built quality of 7610 is really good. My 7610 has been dropped from great high to the ground for over 20 times but it still operates very normally, without hang, without unstabling, and the case is still very firm. Also I can change the cover whenever I think it is scratchy (as the phone has been dropped for so much time). 7610 has good reception, fast meesage input (T9 is real fast in 7610).

Feel the phone, rather than just blame (praise) and look down on (unfairly promote) it.

It may very well be a smartphone, but as I said, some people simply do not want all those features. I have a P900, hence the reason I bought a K700, for day to day use, I have no need for another smartphone. The chap in question may not need or want anything more than a mobile phone with the level of features present in the K700.

@701

I didn't realise that this was a religious conversion; why should we all 'face it'? As I have said before, many people have no need for a smartphone, hence, for them, something like the K700 might actually be a better choice. It is a subjective matter and will obviously vary from person to person.

Being a symbianbased smartphone I totally agree that the 7610 is a better phone functionwise (and camerawise) than the K700. Theres no point arguing about that.

Yet I still chose the K700 over the 7610 - just like I chose my old T610 over my old P800

Why ? - because while having the P800 I discovered I dont need the PDA functions or any other smartphonespecific functions, like installing applications etc. - I allready have an Ipaq that does a better job in that department, and found that when those functions wasnt needed in my phone, the symbian OS only made it feel slow and clumsy in normal day use. I much prefered the smaller, slicker T610 with its ease of use.

The same goes for 7610 vs K700 - if you take away the particular smartphonefunctions because you dont need them, then I found the K700 to be much niser. The K700 fullfill every need I have in a phone - in a very nice way. To me the 7610 feel clumsy and slow and the spaced out design nonappealing. And yes - I have used it for more than a day.

But its a matter of taste and needs, if one can live with the design of the 7610 and a few other let downs (like mono, no aac, no radio) and one needs the functionality added by the symbian OS - then the 7610 could be a very good choise. I would never call it a poor phone - its just a different type of phone than the K700.

Like scotsboyuk point out - alot, or in fact most mobileusers are not businesspeople with a need for a smartphone, most users just want at nice small handset with alot of cool fun stuff - like the K700

Well said; functionality isn't everything. Smartphones aren't for everyone, just because the 7610 can do more than the K700 does not mean to say that it is the best choice for everyone.
