HP will be releasing Stereo Bluetooth headset's for their HP iPAQ range. It will be interesting to see if any handsets support this bluetooth stereo profile.

Im a P910 user,Ive heard if you cant view the caller display on the HBH-200 you have to upgrade your phones software,Quote from Sony Ericsson.com

*If the HBH-200 display does not show caller ID when used with P900, you need to update your phone's software. Please use Sony Ericsson Update Service. The Caller ID is not supported in P800. Call list is not available in P800, P900 nor P910.*

A contradiction i think,if your a P800,P900,P10 user.

Just a little note...

Bluetooth is not yet an overall standard protocoll, there are loads of different bluetooth models and to reply someone who wrote her earlier - No, not all bluetooth devices work with each other.

. . . Now, if it says that it can only produce MONO sound, then can be heard only in one earpiece !

MONO doesn't necessarily mean it can only be heard in one earpiece. MONO means that the sound is composed of only one channel instead of two separate channels for left and right. For a stereo headset a MONO sound will simply play the same signal on both left and right. Both ear pieces will produce the same sound so the panning and 3d effect of stereo will be lost.
resistance is futile.

So, can we or can we not listen to mp3-s (even mono) with a single-ear piece of bluetooth headset?!

So much confusion over this. Okay, some information.

1) Most phones, bar 1 or 2 use Bluetooth 1.1 implementation. 1.1 does NOT support stereo sound natively. This means if you have a 1.1 device, which is pretty much 99.9% of phones out there, then there is no way you will get stereo sound from the phone by Bluetooth.

2) Up and comming handsets that support the newer 1.2 spec (i-Mate JAM does) CAN stream stereo sound by bluetooth.

This is something that manufacteres will be pushing later this year.

Don't forget you'll need a compatible 1.2 spec headset too to get stereo sound.
Different handsets use different BT protocals, and even vary between their implemenation. You can stream MP3 (MONO) by BT on the 6230, but on on the K700i. Moto V series phones won't play MP3's by Bluetooth, but play a video clip and watch the sound come out just fine. Go figure.

Right now if you desperatly want stereo music via bluetooth, pick up the various headset/dongle packages you can get, which consits of a dongle, that plugs into your phones headphone socket, then transmits this via BT to its own stereo headset.

OK. Evreything is clear now. Sony Ericsson finally replied my email.

This is an extract from the email:-

"With regards to your enquiry, it is not possible to use you headset to listen to MP3, and no software available to support this feature."

My phone is a K700i btw.

So much for streaming MP3. But if 6230 is able to do that, I'm sure it's just a matter of software right? Anyone on this thought?

I wouldn't mind mono MP3.

Hmm...come to think of it, can we write a java prog to strream mp3? Anyone can work on this? It'll be such a great tool.

That's too bad, but I don't mind. With the speed of BT 1.1 I guess the quality won't be good anyway.
resistance is futile.

As far as i know java applications running on a k700i can't use the :BT:, IR port, File system etc. (unlike a nok, which runs on the symbarian OS).
So a java application can't help.

It's for the same reason that k700i can't be used as a IR remote for TV, CD players, etc.

As for mp3 via :BT:, it's not at all good. Try borrow a nok(6600 or something) from a friend and try once, bet you won't wana so it again.

Sound via the wired stereo headset of k700i rocks...

but my k700i works well as a wireless mouse with my windows via bluetooth.

and i managed to listen to mp3 from my dell pda X50 via my SE bluetooth handsfree HBH-200.

so i'm sure it's just a matter software update.

i just dun wanna carry my k700i and another mp3 player when doing my workout in gym. sigh....

(and if only i can find a stereo headset for my SE HBH-200 which uses the sub-standard 2.5mm jack)

The wireless mouse feature you're talking about bud is a "BUIILD IN... AS IT IS" feature of the k700i. It's something SE just happened to include, anDsince it is "BUILD IN" it can use the :BT: of the k700i.

I repeat 3rd party java applications CAN'T use the :BT:.

I agree that k700i puts up a need to carry a seperate MP3 player mainly cause of it's limited memory size...

Also :BT: on k700i is mono so mini stereo jack is no good at all...

But you might find something that goes into the k700i headset jack and transmits stereo music to stereo headset...

Cheers!
