i get your point, but I would say that there are features I don't need that you will find on top end smart phones and pdas.
I am looking for the perfect phone for ME, not the perfect phone for everyone

Hi everyne!
Sry to change the subject to my dilema but i really need your opinions on this...Is there any chance that SE would make a software that we can upgrade S700's with inorder to be able to use MS Duo's bigger than 128Mb? Cuz if not then i'm hesitating between the S700 (for the excellent camera but not too much memory) and the P910 (for the decent-ish camera and the very good memory space). Any opinions or advice?

Hurray! plasmadog seems to have hit the mark! thanks!
I overlooked this phone, it's design is so unassuming that I was surprised it even had a camera.
It's not megapixel but it's not bad, and it's certainly better than the Z600. It doesn't seem to support video recording but it supports video playback, it has stereo speakers for MP3 player from TransFlash memory card. You would think that with the 'excellent' speakers, that the phone would have a loudspeaker option, but apparently not.
I really want the red and white version but I'm not sure about it's availability.
I'll be off to the shop to find one to play with. If anyone has any thoughts, or has this phone at the moment I would love to hear from you.

I called tmobile and they offered the Motorola E398 for free. They're even sending it to me for delivery tomorrow, a full week before my renewal point, and more than 6 weeks before the end of my contract! I have 7 days to decide if I want to keep it, and I'll be comparing it closely to my friends K700.
Happy days! Thanks everyone

It came today, and the most amzing thing is the sound! It's quite literally rocking. Theres a Java MP3 player to get my head around. I'm not having loads of luck with the Bluetooth at the moment but I think it's a case of RTFM

First impressions are that it's not as elegant (external design & interface) as SE, but it's pleasant enough and the screen is brilliant.

USB data cable included Plasmadog! this phone was your recommendation so cheers to you. I've ordered a white / red housing from eBay (I haven't set high expectations on that) but I'm totally impressed with the price of TransFlash - £17 for 128MB? Loving it.

The ugliest thing that has happened is that i would have thought the Motorola MPx as a PERFECT fone for me (upgrading from my XDA2) then, they come up with a low memory issue and slow processor
I'm quite dissapointed, Now i wait for the XDAIII (or whatever they call it) though that wont be my perfect fone either, its too big. .

But anyway, fnding a perfect fone is too difficult. You come close to finding one, but then someting is always wrong.

this perfect phone of yours will be out arround Q1 2005 (could be begin Q2 because of cebit). just have a little of patience. you can always get the K700 and sell it later
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA

It's 3 months since I had the Motorola e398 and it has developed problem after problem. Reboots if you try and send file by bluetooth, not discoverable on inbound bluetooth connections, shocking battery life (even with low usage), flash card image files corrupted, MP3 files 'not found' by the bundled Java MP3 player, charging cable connection loose, plastic Tmobile logo has fallen off, scrolling through image list grinds the phone to a halt. It takes almost a minute to boot up, and if you receive a call from a contact with a picture assigned to it (a 5k file) you can wait for several rings before the image makes it to the screen! I spent more than a month playing with it so cannot return it to Tmobile, but it has been away for 'repair' once and came back with the same problems. I don't want this phone any more, but signed up for an 18 month contract. I am gutted as this phone, in terms of listed specifications, met my requirements (the alternative at the time was the K700, which didn't). I do feel better for getting that off my chest anyway
