it's just a program that let's you input your name (or any random seuence of letters) and turns it into something that SOUNDS Japanese but probably is not

yeah but for that you'd need to know the meaning of the names that were put in to begin with and most people have NO IDEA what their name means anyway
Let alone some programmer would know what names in all languages mean

or they could do like they do now, but it would form a real word.

They have similar name generators on the same name but for different themes like what your superhero name is

yeah ok you're right.

what good would be generating a real word though when a large part of your 'audience' will never understand it?
