Hmm... first of all the 1 letter search isn't true. SonyEricsson and Ericsson phones allows you to search with as many letters as you want in the phonebook (This has been true since at least the Ericsson T28, and probably on the earlier phones as well but I can't remember). Saying otherwise just shows that you never used and SE or Ericsson phone or haven't learnt how to use it properly.

The calender on the K700i and the other SE phones are very good. The day view may not be very fancy but does a very good job of what it's supposed to do. Repeated items are possible by syncing to outlook. Most people that use the calender probably sync their phones anyway.

well if you are in field how do you enter repeating things? oh okey, you will make a todo of making a the event repeating when you arrive back to office kinda unefficient, don't you think ?
