Did someone ever think of the fact that the battery actually drains only when playing around in the menus etc and that just about everything is very much faster with this phone than earlier models?

Leave the phone on for a week without playing around in menus and you'll see that the battery is fine! You can even use the radio for a long time without draining the battery if you don't keep using the menus (for changing stations etc all the time).

yes i think youll find this is whats known as "standby" doesnt exactly take a genius to work out that the big bright high resolution colour screen being off uses a shitload less power.....does it?
u should still have to really go some to need 3 charges in 3 days though, i would say with heavy use it should still last 3-4 days on a single charge unless you have a faulty phone or battery. sony stats give 300 hours standby (thats 12.5 days non stop) and 7 hours talktime. So you can work out for yourselves that theres no way the phone battery isnt going to last at least a few days unless its faulty.

You obviously have no idea of what I'm talking about. |

When choosing to send an email to a contacts email address stored in the phone you can't use the keys to go to a contacts first name (i.e. press twice on key #5 to go the first contact that starts with 'K' etc).
Pressing twice on key #5 the phone goes to the first contact that starts with 'T' for some strange reason...

More CPU-power uses more energy. Less CPU-power uses less energy. Pretty basic, eh? This phone is so fast it drains the battery when using menus etc. It's not the screen that drains it, not the radio, not making phone calls. The battery is simply to low in capacity!

A couple more firmware things ...
1) Make 0 an additional "alternate word" choice in T9, same as a joystick-down. We can still get the number 0 by pressing and holding it.
2) Allow the headset to not be plugged in for the radio. If reception sucks, let us worry about that.
3) Write non-Outlook software ... what are you, sadistic?
4) Figure out what's going on with battery meters/life. Your users are just guessing what's going on based on observation. You need to actually figure out why battery indication and performance is so dismal and fix it.
5) If possible, scrap this fixed contact information data structure and use something more dynamic? Why can't I add a second mobile # for a contact while those address and notes fields are empty?
6) Add a Click sound for key presses.

Something went a bit weird up there.
I have had a problem which is really worrying and has happened several times...
If I turn off my phone over night and turn it on. It can't read the internal address book!!! It just says loading or something of the kind.
The only way to resolve it is to either turn off the phone and remove and reinsert the SIM card or pull the battery out while the phone is on! |

Firmware Request:
When playing back your photos in slideshow, regardless of orientation, have the picture show up in full screen (without the black bars).
If you take a picture, and after taking rotate it 90 degrees, in the slideshow it shows full screen.
If you take a pic and don't rotate it, you get nice black bars in the slideshow.
Make the slideshow autorotate to use as much of the screen as possible.

5)Network reception has never been better. My ex-Z600 used to have its reception changing every second..But the K 700i has been constant.Guess finally SE has learnt the secret from NOKIA.
Well I guess Nokias secret is that the reception indicator doesnŽt update itself as often as SEŽs..
Kinda like the fuel consumption gauge in my Saab 9000, the slightest change in pressure on the pedal shows instantly
*which makes you nervous when nailing it from a standstill.. youŽd think a 4-cylinder engine wasnŽt capable of gulping fuel at that rate *

I'm with the earlier post - have slideshow and video (if possible) show up full screen.
Also, allow screensaver settings to be more flexable - time displayed, etc.
Be able to assign custom sounds (like the ringtones) to SMS, Email, Voicemail (all different would be awesome)
Please, please, please - allow contacts with no name and just company name to be listed on phone under company name - right now the company name must be inserted into name field. This makes a big difference when syncing to Mac and iSync.
Other than that just the tweaks on stability and phone book strangeness (doesn't always go to keyed in letter). Also, maybe allowing you to punch in a few characters to go to phonebook place (instead of just M, being able to key M-A).
Great phone!!

I have a K700 on Orange, and have a few issues with it:
The Orange manual describes the setting up of Shortcuts by going to the Settings menu and clicking on Shortcuts - No such menu item exists!
There is no software to allow me to sync my calender with outlook
There is no software to make a backup of all my contacts

I've talked to SE about several issues their answer to all of them a resounding 'no'. The most important one for me is that if I bluetooth a contact from my Ipaq to the K700 no address information is exchanged and if the contact is a company, only the number is displayed on the phone. You can view/edit the untitled number and tab over to the company section and the name will be there, but come on. Nokia and Motorola, no problem. This seems like an easy firmware fix. |
