Hello Stewart1 and Jedda,

I think that you may be incorrect here Jedda about the mRouter being a problem of Apples. mRouter supports OBEX over HTTP over BT and this is a proprietary solution that only SE implements. Nokia uses the much better SyncML over BT, so in this case SE via Symbian must decide on which protocol to use. I provided the link above as a starting point to see where I am coming from. Also, because mRouter is used, firewalls must be configured on the Mac platform to allow communications on port 3004 and from IP addresses, 169.254.0.5. In my opinion, this entire problem in no ways solely the property of Apple.

Additional info about this can be found in the Apple discussion forums. Look for posts concerning the Nokia 6230, P900. Also look for posts by a gentleman names: Alexander, Sapporobaby, or Andrea.

Regards,

Don

any chance that you could make a module that will copy mms or sms into mail.app? the possibility of non recovering my smses is the only thing stopping me from reformating my p900!

is there also a chance that its possible to implement a way of conecting the mac to the net through the phone?

heck, i would pay the shareware fee five times over for those

on first run this does everything it says on the tin but at beta stage.
why do i say that ?
well it crashes a lot for me on the tone maker. (after changing files)

i will be paying for it as soon as it is a bit more stable

- like to see the 'pick a starting point' for the 15 sec tone cut gets implemented..
- love to see a method to do a firmware upgrade on the mac...
- like to be able to use my usb->dsl as a nic for phoen to internet ...but what do people use this for ?

over all its pretty cool.
nice work !

When selecting a music file, you can choose a graphic instead which will get displayed on the lower half of the P900 Manager!!

Jedda, I've noticed (on my system at least) that after I've shared my internet connection (wifi Powerbook to P900 via BT), my Mail app has trouble getting online and therefore can't access my email. Before I've shared internet connection, Mail can get my emails without any problems. Can you check on this?

sexybeast,

aside from the other two modules (imovie and ringtone), is BlueShare any better than iSync in your opinion as far as ease of use and features.

let's further assume if i am ONLY interested in the ability to sync, i am better off using iSync given it's part of the OS and it's free. would you agree?

sfaguy, yes, if you're only interested to sync, then by all means stick with iSync, as P900 Manager, afaik, has no data sync module yet. BlueShare can't be compared with iSync, as it does something entirely different (which is to share your internet connection via Bluetooth, which iSync will not let you).

So for now, to sync data between Macs and your P900, use iSync, as I do.

To share your Mac's internet connection via Bluetooth, use P900 Manager's BlueShare module.

@sfaguy,

I think I mentioned this in another forum or trhead that this application is not what you need at all as far as syncing information. It is okay for ringing tones, converting movies(will not include sound, but this could be the fault of the already encoded movie). I think that this is a good product, but a bit immature for what the die hard Mac-head are looking for. If this product had the ability to sync between iCal, Addressbook, tasks, and the P900, it would be a killer app, but in my opinion it is a bit too soon to claim that title. Jedda is well on the way though.

sexybeast: There should be no problems with any internet functions on your Mac whilst BlueShare is enabled.

There have been no other reports of this problem, and from testing on my own system I can tell you that I am not affected.

One potential conflict could be firewall software. You could try the following.

1. Open port 3004 in your OS X firewall.

This is the port that outgoing connections from the module are routed through, so it needs to be open in any firewalled scenario.

Let me know how you go with any problems on blargsoftware@jeddawignall.com

My OS X firewall is off. Anyway, it works now. I guess that was just a fluke.

I've tried the Blueshare facility on 2 different macs and with 3 different P900's (on each mac)- it doesn't work on any of them. I've tried emailing Jedda but get no reply (even though I've registered his software).

My firewall is off.
The device address is correct.
Internet settings are correct.
Bluetooth is discoverable on phone and mac.
Phone and mac have been rebooted.
Phone has even been master reset!
Using the latest p900 firmware.
Using p900 manager 1.04.
Using Opera 6.31.

If your out there Jedda what's going on? Please help!

Has anyone else had similar problems?

Any help would be much appreciated.
