You know sony did offer many firmware upgrades for all the SONY gear that didnt support the PRO which now does.
Im talking about, laptops, PDA, desktops, TVs, etc...... So I am thinking it must be also possible for our phones, But I know they will never do this.
Ive heard people say its a hardware situation, if it is, then why were these other devices were able to be upgraded throu a firmware upgrade? |

hhmmmmmm....... Thats a good question. Are you thinking of getting a 512 PRO DUO and then part it into 4 so no part is geater then 128mb which states in manual?
I dont believe its the size thats not supported its the type of stick, and because NORMAL duos have a max of 128 because of there bad design in technology its impossible for sony to make bigger cards, thats why they moved on with a new type called a PRO, which is made from different technology.
So if thats you idea, it won work. Sorry, A PRO is just like a SD compared to a NON-PRO, different technology! |

@Ari....
I doubt the validity of that 256mb DUO. Several companies have claimed to have 256mb + DUOs, but ofcourse it has all been misinformation. They were just in fact DUO Pros or Memory Selects which weren't even available in DUO size. At any rate, I'm currently in Japan and believe me if there is anything remotely close to a 256mb DUO I would more likely find it here then anywhere else. People are still gobbling up the 128mb DUOs for dirt cheap here. Being that the majority of high-end mobiles are of 3G format they utilize the DUO PRO format hence no need for DUO sized sticks. Not even the grey market area of Japan has any buzz words about higher capacity DUOs.. So check your source and find out who supposedly planned on manufacturing this. Chances are it don't or won't exists.

Yeah thats true, There is no such thing as a 256mb NON PRO, because of the design that Sony used to make them, they just cant make bigger sizes, that why they brought out a different chip!
Thats also why they brought out the Select function, because people need more memory and sony couldnt do it, but they could put TWO 128 on the same card with a manual switch, other wise, what a stupid idea, why have a switch, sony claimed it was for storing different data on different side, one for pictures and one for music, But isnt that why we have folders!!!
So yeah, non-pro cards are limited to 128mb |

It is part of their marketing strategy, Theres is no doubt that it is possible for them to fixed a pro support for P900 but it will not be possible now because people are looking forward for the next PX00 series to support the pro. It will only be possible months after the release new Px00 with pro support which I will not be upgrading...that time the new Px00 will be in my hands |

I hate when people say its impossible to have 256 Duo (Not Pro). Ok atm, with current technology, they cant do it, but in the future it may be possible! |

hey wait a mintue, Im a prgrammer well use to be and I would never ever say impossible, and we always said, if a programmer said it was impossible, he doesnt know how to do it. But in this case its true! Because its a hardware limitation, a design fault! Sony created a chip and didnt think beyond 128mb then they hit this way and basicly said fcuk! what have we done! Well we cant make a 256 but we can make the 128mb really small, how about we make two small ones and sell them as a 256mb with a switch function. I wish I had the URL of the artical where I read this from.
But hay its true, thats why the PRO and NON-PRO are not compatible because there are totally different! If sony got it right the first time we would never have any of this trouble. This is a lot negitivity from me and thats strange because I am the biggest sony lover in the world hence:
two laptops
Phone
Aibo dog
two stills cams - skinniest in world
movie cam - smallest in world
Stereo
Car turner
MD player
TV
All sony! So I dont like saying bad things about them at all, but this is the truth, they stuffed up! thats why there are two different cards and it is impossible to make a card bigger then 128mb! |

i sent an email to sony ericsson support today and got this response. First my email.
Will an upgrade be possible to allow the P900 to use Memory Stick Duo Pros like the P910? I've heard lots of speculation and rumors, but a final answer would be nice.
and the response.
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support.
Unfortunately at this time there is no upgrade for the p900 to be able to use the Memory Stick Duo Pros.
Best regards,
