7610 best phone on market???
you have to be kidding me...
first it's not even out yet, so you can't say it's the best phone ont he market.
Second if you mean upcoming phone, I can name a few that will give this phone a run for its money. Namely the Mpx 100, has everything that the 7610 has and more (different platforms though), although i'm not a big fan of samsung, there a few samsung phones that will make those buyers looking for style forget about the 7610. Oh and let's not forget the sharp gx-32 (not the vodafone gx-30, even if it's the same)
I think Nokia is releasing the 7610 quickly to grab sales over the summer but knowing nokia's game theory for competitive advantage and business strategy, this all that it is for. I bet you, that no more than 2 quarters down the road, nokia will release a better MP cam phone, with all features and better screen. I mean this 7610 is all good and all but not the best, it is missing IR (even if u don't use much due to BT, some people still don't have BT phones and BT is still not completly used by everyone), it just imposes the idea that IR is obsolete, very nokia-like. It is missing a flash, even if it's a lil light, how do u expect to take good pictures? Last but not least it is a mono phone, not crucial but if nokia is planning on going forward with the 6620 and releasing phones with stereo sound, I think it should make the effort of using that as Unique selling point and attracting more consumers. it is all very nokia like, they take things for granted it seems to me. They have very good ideas and good products, but it always seem to lack that certain extra something something.
Anyways just my opinion. If you want a good MP cam phone by nokia, i say wait a lil bit, either the 7610i or the 6630 will be out with better features for Nokia to compete.

Cant you guys stop nokia bashing? For the record, the 7610 will be available in my country in 15 days.

I'm not bashing nokia....I didn't say anything that I didn't back up. Plus you can't tell me what Company's Business tactics and strategies to like. A company's culture and mission is what gives the consumer the company's image and brand value. As a business student I should be able to realize my own opinion. I specifically said that I just didn't agree with saying that 7610 would be the best phone out there after the p900 and I proved it why.

Regarding your earlier reply, the moto uses the MS platform which is proprietary hence, few options are available. As for N releasing a new MP phone, all others are gonna do the same thing.

I think butterguy bought up some very valid points. I didn't know the 7610 was mono like the 6600. I wanted a phone that could play MP3s, so its put me off now. Also it uses reduced sized MMC cards??? WTF are they? |

Rs mmc cards are smaller and have a higher access speed. Btw, 7610 output is stereo.

Its got a pop port and supports the HDS3 stereo headset.

bah....again...where does it say it supports the HDS-3??
first just cause it has pop port doesn't mean it's stereo...get the phone connect that headset and you will see sound will come out of only one earbud.
Second go to the nokia website and check the 7610 page, no mentio of stereo sound, go to the enhancement section and then audio and you won't see mention of of the HDS-3 headset.What's funnier is all the headsets that are mentioned there are all mono.
Now if you check the 7210 webpage or any other phones that actually have stereo sound, it will mentio the HDS- 3 headset.
check mobileburn as well they got their hands on a prototype of the 7610 and they said it was mono sound.
Other people on howardforums that have the phone have said the same thing.
Once again if you prove to me it is stereo, i will believe you.

Cor deer! I've kicked up a bit of a fuss here havent i  !
I've had a look @ both these phones... and im not best pleased with both... Lacking here and there.... The 6230 - the screen is 2 small... and 660, no FM radio and mono!!!! 
So i change the thread title again... i am now lookin for a cheap £120- phone till Xmas... when i will wait for the S700i.... any suggestions?
Oh, and btw.... no nokia!
