I'd only use it for video calls. £15 for 30mins of calls is quite steep.

Yeah, it is.
Plus the fact you have to have a talk voucher first. I.E. You have to have a VideoTalk/VideoText voucher active before you can buy add-on packs. The cheapest VideoTalk/Text top-up is £15, valid for 30 days that gives you 100 talk/25 talk+100 text. That gives you £1.50 credit, enough for 3 minutes video calls. To make up the half hour, add £15 worth of credit. So we're talking £30 to make 30 minutes of video calls. Admittedly, you can make voice calls and/or texts too without paying more but it's still steep if all you're using it for is video.
Although, that said, their regular voice/text tariffs are extremely good value (same price on Contract as it is on 3Pay). So unless you're locked into a contract or are in love with your current network, or spend extremely little per month on a PAYG package, it might be worth considering switching?

I wont switch as I get 1p a min staff rate at Orange
I can use the handset for the time being until orange launch their 3g service. Then unlock it.
Is the NEC 313 any good? I can get one for £45

You can get the A835 for 50quid in 3 shops on pay n go. The only problem is there reconditioned phone. My advice as a 3 contract user is to say clear. Orange 3G is close. Wait. It'll be worth it. Oh by the way, Ive had 5 A835 replaced in 3 months.

I thought about buying it from woolies. But I bought it online instead
I'm keeping it secret for the moment because I plan on ordering a few more and making a profit on ebay

@orangeman:
So, how are you getting on with your new phone?
My e313 is having horrible problems with text messages right now. Sometimes (not always) the phone flashes up with "Recieving Data" when an SMS is coming in, and plays my ringtone, but when you go into the Inbox, there is nothing there. Very annoying. Also, sometimes, when reviewing sent messages, the saved copy in the "Sent" folder comes up as indecipherable characters, or doesn't open at all. But the recipient gets the message you intended OK.
Maybe it's a faulty phone, but I'm not the only one with the problem according to the 3G Forum.
And calls have been really flaky recently. Dropped several calls repeatedly the other day standing in Central London with full 3G Service. Had to power-cycle the phone several times to get it to call properly again. |

I have no idea what the prices will be for customers or staff. I will be buying a Z1010 without doubt and probably selling the NEC

OK got my NEC about a week ago. I even managed to get my Orange sim working in it. Though I can't access wap or send/receive anything, just make calls.
Its quite a good handset. It is quite large, but fo £40 you can't moan
