It was £1.14 up here until our petrol station closed for refurbishment, intrigued as to what it may be at the end of the month when it re-opens. I've never had to run a car before so seeing my money disappear in fuel will be a fun experience.

I wouldn't say fun, over £40 to fill my Seat Ibiza the other day, and that last me around 2 weeks give or take.
You can always fill my tank up Laura, if you want to know what it feels like. (no pun intended.)

I was being sarcastic, i'm sure it won't but a 1.2 shouldn't cost too much to fill up, she say's hopefully.

In New Zealand, regular fuel (91, which I use) is $1.88/L at the moment, and Premium (95/96/98) is between $1.94 and $2.02/L.
Translating this using current exchange rates, thats GB £0.74/L for regular, or up to 79p for the premium (what most European cars require).
Using the regular fuel in my 1.5L Toyota Levin, it costs me roughly (going on estimates as normally I only fill half my tank) $65 to fill up. Thats £25.74 to fill up.
Oh and I should add, even at these prices people here are complaining.
