Hi all
I just needed the motivation of you all to create a (my) LCARS theme for the P900. Here it is!
http://www.theserver.ch/P900/LCARS_P900.utz
Flip Closed Mode (animated, see below)
Flip Closed Mode (with Shortcuts)
Flip Open Mode
Screensaver (animated)
(360KB, with Sounds and animated LCARS Screensaver, and animated FlipClosed Picture) . A little bit orange/yellow for now, but somehow i like it)
Despite the FlipClosed Mode has an animated GIF file it does not play...so if you would like to have the Flipclosed Background slightly animated
then download
http://www.theserver.ch/P900/LCARS_FC.gif
--> save it on your P900 and choose it as background picture manually on "Display". I will work on this issue later.
This Theme was created (in wide-parts) with VITO Technology - Theme Editor for P900 and this theme shall be free of charge for anyone.
Live long and prosper
Cheers from Switzerland
Fredi

...also saying "thank you" for the compliments...
As Luc stated: To create a nice looking theme, it takes a while (despite of good Theme Editors)...most of the time you will spend to "pixel-resize" the pictures, so that they somehow fit onto the screen around the given positions of text (clock, operator, etc.)....
...and if you create "Animated GIF's" it takes even more....(my theme was around 6 hours work)...
Next time i will investigate to create "fully animated" background images (also in FlipOpen Mode)...it really looks nice if you have an animated background with flipclosed mode....btw: Have created new version of the FC Background Image...still downloadable under the link provided above
Have a good time you all!
Frederic

Nice work Fredric!
Dont you think that it will drain allot of battery though?

Hi there! Thanks again!
No, actually it does not! I also was wondering if it would, but it does definately not. My "battery drain" problem is related to having the P900 in the "tight" belt-pocket -> It will push a button (OK) and then the screen is lit on (despite of having the "key lock" enabled)....like this i can drain the battery within a day down to 10% left....if i wear the p900 in my shirt pocket (depending of my shirt battery drain is about 10-15% after 10-12 hours. (including this "FC-Background"). And this the same as when i used a "non-active" Screeen.
I'm really looking to make some more interesting moving Background Images....the P900 is looking much more "attractive"/"intelligent" if the Standard Screen is in "Action"....
Cheers

Okey, you had your wish granted! It would be nice with some feedback.

Not bad,
But I think there's more work to be done. The flip open background and the menu selections in the application list need to be improved and made closer to the LCARS theme.
BTW, a while back I reported the bug in the theme installer on the P900 that turns the backgrounds into MBM - so only the first frames survive the process |
