That's ok, Deltayoda. Have you tried it on your phone? The bluetooth trick? Try it... it's really cool.

Yes, I've tried it before with a friend, and I've tried it personally with my t39m. Someone also mentioned you can listen into conversations using this (would be great to use for a group conversation, instead of using up minutes on your phone).

What is the range of Bluetooth?
And can paired phones be used as a radio to communicate with eachother?

Deltayoda, I don't think there's any truth to that. I only heard it here.

Bluetooth can be used within 10-meter radius.

Well, that’s unfortunate.

Would have been a great feature to be able to use the phone as a radio, especially with that 10-meter range.

Bosse, there's actually lots of useful things about bluetooth. I cannot enumerate them one by one here, but I assure you it's useful.

Stonebolt, why can't you list them here if it's so good? Back up what you say!

I think bluetooth is totally overrated. Why are you getting so excited about it? It's infrared over a slightly longer distance, what's so great about that?

Any accessories for it are well over priced as well. A completely handsfree kit with no wires would be nice, but not for £200.

I'd love to think Bluetooth is great, but until someone proves otherwise I will not be convinced!

Why is Bluetooth great? It's all in the simplicity in the technology mate. You are right, it's "just" a better version of infrared, but a better version that is long overdue. IRDA is a pretty dated techology after all, and it's riddled with problems.

Bluetooth is inexpensive to implement, like IRDA, and certainly contrary to WLAN

Bluetooth is a small(in actual size) technology, and has a low power consumption, which enables it to be implemented in every kind of product.

Bluetooth is built with security in mind, contrary to IRDA, and certainly contrary to WLAN, which enables you to use it without worrying.

Bluetooth enables you to automate synch. tasks and so on, at the moment you enter the viscinity of your home computer. A lot less hassle than IRDA.

In the future, Bluetooth will be used at all information points. Airports, bus stations, subway stations will all be able to transmit information, which will be accessible to all Bluetooth enabled products, be it a Phone, pda or full fledged computer. WLAN can also be used for this too, but because of the powerconsumption, and cost, noone in their right mind will implement WLAN in a phone, and that's the reason there are so few PDA wlan solutions.

This was a quick writeup, so feel free to comment if you disagree or something.

Fury, Knut was right. And I maybe right. I'm not an authority when it comes to technology. What I was sharing here was my experience using my phone's bluetooth and my other bluetooth-capable devices. It may not be useful to you, Fury, but to me or anyone else here using the technology does.

Knut again was right by saying it's an Irda with radio frequency. But at least, you don't have to aim the Irda eye to another Irda-capable devices. Bluetooth does it better. Thanks.

i just tried yesterday to connect my wife's T68 to my T39 using Bluetooth. It went well without a hitch.

Aside from being able to send some of my ringtones to her via Bluetooth which i was able to do, i was also wondering what other wonderful things we can do to each others phone when we are so called connected ie, send an SMS direct to her? control her phone? monitor her calls ornumbers called (LOL)

I'm glad that you're happy with the bluetooth, Hornet. I think there's alot of things that have to be discovered on our phone.

I use bluetooth to manage most of the features of my T68. It works great and the MacOS X Bluetooth support is very good. I use bluetooth:

1. To send and receive any file format the T68 supports. I manage my phonebook on my Mac using GSM Remote.

2. My T68 sends/receives calendar and note events from my Mac. Haven't got the phone to take more than 3 calendar events at a time yet but I'm working on that.

3. I can quickly change my background picture using the Apple Bluetooth FileExchange utility.

4. It is an easy way to backup much of the content on my phone.

5. I have played with a Motorola Bluetooth headset which works quite well. Very nice for use in the car and very high quality sound.

Anyway, Bluetooth doesn't do everything and is fairly short range but for what it does I love it.
