Out of 12 BT headsets now (8 of which are SE BT headsets) I don't think I've seen differences in range. The case should never be an issue when it comes to interference. If the connection can go through a wall then break-ups through a simple leather case should be the least of your worries. The line of sight test is what one should really use when testing range. If it falls short under any other circumstances then its really the quality of the headset. I personally detest Jabra BT headsets with a sickness due to several personal reasons which I'd rather not discuss at this moment.
