EDGE my foot! GPRS may be decent...but coverage is far from good! If Globe & Smart push for EDGE with GPRS rates... wow! Hahahaha... I wonder how many people actually use GPRS since they started charging P0.25/KB

Unless they can compete against WiFi rates, EDGE may not take off... it'll be WAP all over again.

One thing though... if they do lower EDGE rates... it will blow WiFi away since you don't need to sit still and be near one of our very few hotspots (Ayala malls, airport, and select Seattle's Best & Starbucks)

@jplacson

I have the same sentiments regarding EDGE and the whole GPRS issue. But I have found out recently that WiFi is a more cost efficient wireless technology because they are charged by the hour and many providers sell prepaid cards and unlimited accounts. Downside is you can only surf within the hot spots. But soon I guess there will be a lot of hot spots to cover the whole of Metro Manila. Good thing my new phone has an SD slot (for a WiFi attachment!).

Hi guys,

I need your opinion.
I was deadset on buying the P800 about a month ago when i heard about the P900. Since it is higher model, it definitely has some upgraded features from its predecessor. Except for the weight, 65K colors, dirctionary and the video recorder (which i heard can be installed in the P800 anyway) there's not much difference from the P800 anyway.
Nevertheless, i still waited for the P900 to come out thinking it might be just a few thousand pesos shy from the P800. Might as well get the latest version, right?
However, i find out now that the P900 is priced at 44K. The P800 (with warranty) is at 31K. Definitely not "a few thousand bucks."

Here's my dilemma. And i need your advice folks.
Is the 13K difference worth the upgraded features of the P900. Because if it is, then i will definitely shell out 44K for the P900. Now i'm thinking, what if i buy the P800 for 31K... wait til i grow tired of it... then buy a P900 early next year when it is, hopefully, a little cheaper than the launching price. Besides, this will be my first Ericsson phone (i've grown tired of the Nokia units. they are not much different from each other. a ripoff, i tell you) so i might as well familiarize myself first with an lower end SE phone.

What do you guys think???

Whatever suits you.

If you care about the following:

1) colorful screen
2) t9
3) video recording
4) customizable themes
5) a lager stylus
6) a professional looking phone

... then go get the P900

If they don't matter, you can save some money buying the P800 since everything else is the same.

Yup, Semicon is selling the P900 for 44k. But if you have a VIP card, you can get it for Php43,500.

No Demo units though. Can't play with it, not unless you are buying it.

That's what they told me too but I insisted... I told them that I don't buy unless I see, touch and fondle... if it satisfies me then they're lucky... and if it does not, then the phone was lucky to have been handled by mwah.

This happened yesterday afternoon at Semicon Megamall... insist on your rights as a consumer.
