Well.... just heard this on the radio news:

Yesterday a lady in Vietnam injured her legs when a Nokia battery exploded in her trousers (in the pocket)

Monia will now start an investigation.

D'oh Nokia!!! It's about time!

Maybe Nokia forgot to test this phone under extreme conditions:
1. Freezing temps
2. Dropping it from 6 feet or more.
3. Letting a women talk on it for as long as she thinks it's appropriate

This news made CNN today - with Nokia claiming that is was all due to counterfeit batteries. Right...

@Vlammetje - it doesn't mention what the lady was doing with the mobile in her pocket, does it?

Ive heard that the vibro gives off alot of heat if used for extended periods of time. [addsig]

I've had problems with nokia phones before. I've had leaks from the crap things that apparently give the phone power.

i cant understand how a phone can blow up. its like something out of die hard 3. actually ram can blow up.
anyway, in nokias defence the two people mentioned in the article i posted were using unofficial batteries. but that still doesnt add up.
but the picture in page 1 of this thread shows an official nokia battery in the blowd up phone.
odd..............
