hmmm... as far as 1 grand hard drive players for the car goes... I use my ipaq (yet another use) with a couple of 512mb SD cards and a little device that plugs into the headset socket and transmits on fm so the car radio can pick it up!

i didnt say the idea of wireless speakers was stupid. i meant it is in practice. because if your using a dedicated 5.1 or thx system you would have up to 8 power cables. its stupid. optical cables are not only more reliable but can transfer data at an unbelievable yet unknown limit on its speed. what hi-fi uk reviewed this subject in feb or march isuue. will confirm.
optical cables also transmit power. bluetooth and wi-fi do not. also technology grows at such a rate that by the time you buy something new, its old!
bluetooth headphones exist. they're big and yellow. i remember seeing a thread about them on cliesource.com.
the rome player technology has been pushed to its limits. the techs about 3 years old.
anyway, if sony have anything to do with developing these products, dont expect much.
nowadays they concentrate more on tie-in sales rather than giving you what you need.
eg. vaio laptops with built in bluetooth will NOT work with full router adsl modems not made by sony.
making the inventel bluedsl useless.
sony have made sure bluespace has priority and bluespace doesnt allow all features or coms unless connecting to a sony product.
ps- orangeman, i wasnt calling you or anyone else stupid. its just that the idea frustrates me as it would be good but is now where near practical......yet. |

Its time a big electronics firm invested the time and money to make these. I also think the bt hp printer is a nice piece of kit.

@masseur . . . . . cheers for the link - a 5 gb B/T HDD is not quite what I had in mind though. May as well carry my laptop with me :-)

I met an Apple guy once who was looking to use Bluetooth for a wireless subwoofer only. The speakers themselves would remain wired.
Personally, I really like my HP995c printer, and Microsoft mouse/keyboard. With the latest Widcomm stack (1.4x) they all work together too!

Well i have to say, the MS intellimouse for BT is ultra cool!
The Base station looks very cool on my desk, but the mouse is a nice dark shiny blue. I am well impressed
And my HBH-60 always turns heads as well!
