These people are selling the R1A firmware that SE can install on your phone for free, and at their risk, not yours! I do not see any innovation there!

Isn't that the point though? SE won't do it? They will only load Vodafone custom firmware... I'm sure people have said they have tried with SE

...but isn't this what this whole thread is about? Abour how SE flashes LIVE phones with non-LIVE software? Can anyone confirm the existence of special, LIVE software on SE servers, accompanied by specific "mandates" that LIVE phones should be flashed with LIVE software only? I do not see how they can refuse to flash a LIVE
phone with regular software if the phone has been purchased at full price without any Voda subsidy.

I just hope everybody gets rid of the Voda crap so that they get a good lesson for their arrogance and stupidity in turning a good menu into something that everybody despises. SE must have had a serious cash-flow problem to have accepted this deal!

Well, Masseur, I have to admit that I did not read all posts related to the VODA problem (I must have missed 1 or 2), but no, no one before Haki did tell us about a pure and simple upgrade made by SE...
Everyone did say things like "no it can't be done", or "not yet" but no one did try...
I cannot see why flashing all the SW would not turn it to normal?!? This works for comps, why not for cells?..

I am currently trying to contact SE (busy on the phone) --no, hold on, I just talked to a guy who say to me:

- "I have never hear of a hissing problem for the T610"
- There is no upgrade for the T610

I basically have to disagree with that, as:
- well, I experience the hissing every day, and
- There has been a factory upgrade in the SW, as lastest phones do not hiss; this may not qualify as upgrade, but at least there is a latest version of the SW...

Also, for all french users, there is no SE service point in Paris that is able to change the SW... or at least, that's what they say...
So I guess that I am going to pay 15£ for the distant upgrade...

Moreover, just for the P800 users, the guy from SE said to me: "I have never been able to shoot 15-min videos, whereas people on forums say they can..."
Well, maybe this guy is not the chief of SE, but that means that they do not pay alot of attention to what we --the users of their phones-- say, regardless of the post (maybe on HoFo, can't remember) "purposedly" sent by SE stating their interest in our point of view...

FINALLY, COULD ANYONE EXPLAIN HOW I SEE THE FIRMWARE VERSION ON MY PHONE, SO THAT I CAN ASK A PRECISE QUESTION TO SE HERE IN FRANCE.
The back of my phone says R2D then R8A and latter 03w19.
What is the correct sequence?

You have R1A firmware and your phone was manufactured on the 19th week of 2003. These are separate things.

By the way, one can have a phone flashed with the same firmware as the one already installed in his phone. It is not necessary that a new, upgraded version has been released. This is what I did to my phone; I had it flashed with R1A standard version. Once again I must point out that the SE people told me that there was only one software version on their server, the standard one.

panic over for me, just picked up my T610 from the Carphonewarehouse and there is no Vodafone crap on the cover (so I guess there won't be vodafone live! crap software)

so as far as I know Carphone are selling T610s on vodafone without Live! customisation for the moment....

got it as a new contract.

Went down to shop yesterday to sign up, and they said they would get one for me next day.
Imagine my delight to see them produce a plain sonyericsson box
As far as I know they don't have any in stock they order them on demand (this is in Bath btw).

Currently, SE can not overwrite the vodaphone firmware with the generic firmware. EMMAII wont allow it.

Well, my Vodafone software was certainly overwritten to a great extent, at on official SE center, and EMMA allowed this because "she" had no alternative solution!

I sure hope that noone of you guys implies that I made up any part of my story! In the widely respected http://www.unwired.gr forum there are many testimonies of T610 owners who had their phones flashed n Greece. The language though is Greek.

There's hope! Hoorah! Logos unlimited looks like my best bet. All I need now is a data cable... *sigh*

My SE came in a plain Sony Ericsson box, too. Moment of vague hope... until the woman at Voda shop put horrible Vodafone Live! slide-cover over it and I knew I was doomed
