T610 and HBH-30 crackle noise problem |
JForce Joined: Nov 22, 2002 Posts: 83 From: New Zealand PM |
This info is only starting to filter out into the SE world. Specifically, they have just become aware of an issue with the T610 and the HBH60. It may also be a problem with the other models.
Im surprised the customer care centre didn't know about it to be honest. They should do.
All the info I have is that it needs to go into the service centre, both units. |

I have spoken "again" to the trained monkeys at SE today, and once again they say "we have not been made aware of the crackle issue". The IDIOT that I spoke to there, well there were two.. the first one a woman said.. lets go through the menus on the T610, if you go into connectivity and then bluetooth and change the mode to "automatic", I replied... there is NO automatic on the T610. !!!!!!. Then I spoke to the monkey trainer a man, who after offering 0.05% help, went on to say that the automatic mode was removed from the T610 in order to make the voice answer on BT possible, I replied.. it works fine on the T68i with automatic, and he said.. "voice answer doesnt work on the T68i"
PLEASE !!!! - trained monkeys could probably do the job better than the people they have on the phone !!!!
I have emailed SE just now to ask if they know of a fix to the crackle.. will see what they say "if anything"

Can you give me the telephone number, I will give them a ring too. In my opinion this is completely unacceptable as the handsets are advertised as Bluetooth enabled. If I cannot use my bluetooth headset with this phone then in my opinion they are in breach of the trade descriptions act.
I have had 2 of the T610's so far, and neither are usable with my HBH-30 headset but it works perfectly with my T68i

Option 2

I agree - not acceptable, if it doesnt work.. why advertise it as Bluetooth enabled !!

Just to update everyone on my SE BT Saga....and the T610.
As mentioned previously - I used to use a SE HBH-30 with my T68i and had no problems. But when I got the T610 I kept getting a crackle sound (which was real bad). So I then ordered a HBH-35 thinking it would have newer firmware and would probably work okay with the T610 - guess what that also crackle's (even though it's only been out for a couple of weeks).
So today I took delivery of a Jabra BT200 and IT WORKS GREAT ! No crackle at all when I'm using it with my T610 !!!
So it seems like the SE BT Headsets are not working correctly with the SE T610 phone (unbelievable !)
What's more is the Jabra is much cheaper than the SE headsets (and I actually prefer the way it connects to the ear).
I just can't believe I've had to go to a non-SE manufacturer to actually get a headset that works with this phone...

I have given up with the T610
the packaging is on its way from T mobile to me, i EVEN tried a suggestion from my brother.. he said..
RING SE and ask them if they have the BT headsets and the T610 phone there, (they did) and then ask them if they will pair them up together and either call you, or you call them on a specified number that they MIGHT give you, I tried this.. and they said.. "what you need to do is package up your t610 and BT Headset and send it to Celestica),
Well.. at least I tried to get someone to admit to the problem.. didn't work.. but I tried !

Again, my T610 works flawlessly with my HBH-15. Just to qualify your assumption. |

I don't know why my HBH-30 and 35 had the problem if your HBH-15 works. But as you can tell from this thread - I'm not alone with this problem.
I'm so impressed with this Jabra BT200 that I'm not too worried I couldn't get my SE Headsets to work.
Cheers,

Well I have an HBH-15 that is perfect with my T610, but crackles with the T610. The HBH-35 I also have seems to crackle with the T610 too, as yet have not tried with the T68.
Hoping to get a fix for this, but so far SE seem to be ignoring the problem. Need to get someone to acknowledge the problem, maybe media pressure will help. Know any journalists with clout?

I have been in touch with SE yet again about this and all they keep saying is send the headset and Handset to Celestica to be repaired. I will let you know if it comes back OK what this space.
I have pasted the emails below.
My first Email
Question:
Subject: T610
Product: T610
Opinion: I recently purchased a T610, and was very dissapointed to Find out that this works very poorly with my HBH-30 Bluetooth headset. There seems to be a terrible crackle throught the earpiece on my Bluetooth headset while on the phone. I have my handset replaced last week, and This too has the same problem but worse! It is so bad that I cannot understand what the person on the other end is saying!
Please advise
Their reply (Automated as you can see)
Dear Sir or Madam,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre.
Regarding your enquiry, Celestica now have the repair in place for the
hissing noise on the T610. There will be a 1 day turnaround. The relevant details are found below:
I was not happy with that reply so i objected with this .....
I'm Sorry but you have not answered my question!
I know about the hissing problem in the ear piece as this is a known issue, but my problem is the crackling noise through the ear piece of my HBH-30 Bluetooth headset!
Whenever I use my HBH-30 BT headset there is such bad crackle through the earpiece, that I cannot understand what is being said!
I am now on my second phone, and this one is worse. There is nothing wrong with my Bluetooth headset as it works perfectly with my SE T68i.
Now the way I see this, SE are in breach of the trade descriptions act here, as this handset is advertised as 'Bluetooth Enabled' yet this does not work with Bluetooth headsets to a satisfactory level
I have been reading alot about this problem on several Sony Ericsson Forums such as http://www.esato.com/board/ and everybody including myself have spoke to your Customer advisors about this very problem and the reply has been 'Sonyericsson are not aware of this problem, so nothing will be done as not enough people have complained'. I am sorry this is not good enough
Please could you confirm to me that if I send my phone off to Celestica that this fault can and will be repaired. My blue tooth headset is also still under warranty and I would be prepaired to send this off too, but my concern is that they will both be tampered with but not repaired.
Please Advise
And Finally this is the reply i received.....
Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre.
Regarding your enquiry, your handset will need to be seen by a Sony Ericsson technician. You will have to send the handset directly to a company called Celestica. The relevant details are found below:

I had given my phone to the SE Service Center yesterday for BT static with my HBH-60, and i got it back today. The static problem is not solved, but what they told me is that there are some parts that have to be changed in the phone and they will come on monday, so i have to wait till then. So i asked them to return me my phone and once the parts come to give me a call. So I guess they know something is wrong, because the static was so less in mine, they could have even said it was normal knowing the people here in the service center. Well anyways i will keep u'll informed, if something happens.
BTW now i feel my phone has become little slow i doono why:( or maybe its just a psycho feeling |
