Camera-less P800 when ? |

if the p800 already costs alot of money with its \"shitty camera\", then it would probably cost 2x to 3x more expensive if it had 1.3megapixel w\\ zoom digi cam in it. wouldnt it? then less people would buy it because they couldnt afford it. then it would become a flop. eventhough the integrated cam takes crappy pics, it still serves its purpose. for mms, backgrounds, and enjoying that once-and-a-lifetime pictures you took. the cam is there for fun not for professional use

@terence, aqu4rius, Skrue and masseur- i totally agree with everything u guys have said. The cam is only meant for fun and convenience, not for professional use. If u want quality pics then use a proper digital cam, not a fone cam. :-D

The nokia 8910i is more expensive than the p800 and you don't get any thing with that! Any way is the mineral grey p800 more to your taste?

Sorry buddy to say this, but the subject you raised and the things that you wrote where unrelevant, confused and out-of-the-blue. So I came to the conclusion that one of the following cases are true for you:
- You where WAY too bored and therefore posted this topic
- You wanted to post something, but didn't know what to write
- You didn't even give a second thought on what your wrote
- You don't own a P800, and therefore you desperatly critise it
- You can't tell the difference between a fun-cam, one-use cam & a pro-cam
Or maybe all of them are true? I don't know what to say, but just that you compared your Cybershot with the P800 cam, was enough for me. I didn't ever imagine that someone would buy a phone like P800, T610, 7650, 3650, 7250, GD67, etc., to satisfy his hobby needs, such as photography.
I want the camera to remain there, and use it for what it's made for - Like MMS messaging.
By the way - I still can't believe you said that you expect such a version of P800. How about not having the touch screen and the pen on the side? It would surely make it thinner & slimmer. But then, it wouldn't be a smart-phone or a PDA anymore, would it? Hmmm...
PS. Yes, it would be nicer if the cam had better quality, and wouldn't be just for purposes such as MMSing . But then, your Cybershot would be useless, wouldn't it?
PS.2 Added to your Cybershot, get yourself a Tungsten/iPaq and a T610... They do everything that P800 does, but are slimmer. And then put all of them in your pocket...

Let me idiot-proof it for you mate. Right now I have in my pockets a T68i, a Clie T615C, a Cybershot U10, and wallet keys and trinkets, etc. I tell you they ARE FREAKING BULKY!
So what's the goddamned all-in-one alternative??? A P800 you say??? Nope. My work is greatly enhanced by the ability to copy documents and items and such with a small portable camera. Will the P800 work for me? Hell no! The camera just plainly sucks and documents will come out unintelligible...
The solution I have in mind is a camera-less P800 AND a separate camera combination. It'll be less bulky than the 3 devices I now carry, and the performance will not be compromised (ie pictures will be clear). Comprende amigo???
By removing the camera it can also be made slimmer. And no you don't have to take away the touch screen to make it slim! Damn where did you get that idea!?! And maybe make a decent silo for the stylus. The clip-on-the-side-stylus seems like an afterthought to me...
Now if you're totally gay and happy with your P800 and will never ever want a better device then GOOD FOR YOU! Ignorance is bliss...
@All
I know the integrated cam is not for pro use!!! That's why I want it removed!!! Got it???

@Aikonoklast
First of all, f**k you!
Just cause you talked to me like a bitch!
Now, back to the subject:
- When I said about you carrying a mobile phone, a PDA and a Camera in your pocket, I was being ironic you dumbf**k! It's not like carrying a pack of cigarettes, a lighter and condoms. I'm sure you look like a clown with all this shit in your pockets...
- You carry all this shit in your pockets you f**king nerd (Mobile, PDA and digital camera), and you want the P800 to get slimmer so your pockets will be less bulky? You are surely f**cked up...
- If you are so concerned about your different devices being of such high standards (Like wanting a high-quality cam), then you wouldn't either settle for P800's PDA feature - You would stay at you Clie, or get yourself a Palmpilot or Windows CE-based PDA, to get the most out of it (More features, more software, more PDA power, more of everything).
- Let me reintroduce you P800, for idiot-proof reasons, like you said:
It's a device that has a little of everything. Once again, A LITTLE of everything. Little of a PDA, little of a mobile and little of imaging capabilities. As for the last feature, I'm telling you once again, that it is intended for purposes such as MMSing. So for the reason that is there for, it works just fine. And it'll be there, because most people would like that feature. They don't mind some a couple of extra centimetres.
- If you expect from the nearby future, camera-less phones, then you'll be having a very hard time. When the next step of mobile-communications is 3G, integrated imaging capabilities on mobiles will be a standard. Now, if the cameras will get just a bit better in terms of picture quality, that's another thing. But they will surely stay there, and won't replace you Cybershot, or anybody else's Cybershot, for a long time ahead.
- And the mobile makers are surely not just as smart as you are, and will be removing the cameras just to make their phones smaller - They simply improve the technology and make the internal components smaller, which will automatically result in smaller phones... duh!
PS. I don't even own a P800 you stupid f**k! I don't need to own one in order to be realistic and know what I'm talking about, unlike you!

@aikinoklast why dont you just buy a p800 and take out the camera by yourself. id bet you would be happy. come on man, the p800 can easily replace your t68i and your clie. then you'll have room for your precious cybershot. SE isnt forcing you to use the integrated cam. hey we arent forcing you to buy it but dont piss other people esp. p800 owners how you dont like it that much. i bet you never even had the chance to use it in your entire life. in fact youve never even seen a p800 before. if your job requires you to take megapixel pictures then fine stick with your cybershot. if your job requires you to have a slim phone then fine stick with your t68i. if your job requires you to have a silver cased PDA then fine stick with your clie. stick with those devices and trinkets in your pockets rather than complain on something you dont even own and want. your starting to sound baby, i dont like the cam! i dont like the color! i want i slimmer!

Well the camera option is well mentioned here.. but i've got a proper digi-cam if i want nice photos.. the p800 im sure was never designed to replace a camera.. just to take photos at times when you wouldnt have brought your camera.. the camera in all fairness could be throughly done without but it is a topend phone and it wouldnt be technically if it did not have a camera..
The colour of the P800 is ok but recently I sprayed the front panels of my computer's CD drives to match the case.. I am going to use the same Aluminum spray on the blue covers of my P800.. will be outstanding..
