tried the SL55 today - very nice to hold in the hand, but I just can't stand the Siemens menu layout it lets the whole thing down. I'll be getting a P800, methinks!

I've had the S55. It's exactly the same as the non-color ones, except for the icon-desktop (which looks horrible).....

But, maybe it's a matter of adjusting to it...

@Swag
I would say it is..
I would even go so far as to say the S55 menu is better than both the Nokia (simple to operate/navigate) and the SE (some brilliant solutions mixed with what can best be described as Motorola renegade layout
Maybe it´s just my way of thinking that suits the Siemens *or rather the other way around, come to think of it*
I use Windows XP, Mac OSX Jaguar and FreeBSD daily and they all have their benefits/pitfalls so maybe it is an
"adapting" issue?
Cheers!

i have no problem in adapting to any menu interface of any phone maker. those that cannot may be lacking some brains i say. when i shifted to SE i found the menu complicated than nokia's but i did compensate for it immediately. if you're a tech junkie and love high tech gadgets then it's to problem to you on the complicated menu system. to me siemens and SE's menu structure are almost identical, i liked the new SL55 and it has a cooler design and form factor which suits me just fine. i was once a brand loyalist but never again for i hate to be disappointed. siemens crap? ok, fine, whatever but why is it in the top 5 phone makers? it's crap

I only hv one complaint about the SL55
it's the screen
not very crisp

well, then again, I traded my T610 for it

and the T610's screen was amaze...

it's 256 colors if I'm not mistaken right? (the sl55)

4096 actually, but i don´t know what it is with the 4096 displays?!
They look washed out or faded I think! I´m not even sure if i prefer my S55 or the M/SL As far as I am concerned Samsung beats the living crap out of everything current, screen-wise at least, there are other aspects of Samsung that are debateable to be fair, but their displays rule! (Yes i have made a side by side comparison with the t610 in case you were gonna ask
IMO Samsung 5/5 SE 3/5..
If we were to discuss features you could most probably reverse the figures, but that wasn´t the issue on the other hand

Cheers!
