Also I have noticed that when u select a ringtone, no matter which one, when someone call you, you hear a 'ring' before it actually starts playin the tone

Has anyone figured out if this is a problem or a feature??

Do all T610s have this "ring", before the tone plays??

Once the tone finishes playing, does it play the soft "ring" again before repeating the tone??

Well my T610 does play a soft ringtone before repeating the tone. I still haven't wprked out if this is a feature or a software problem though. I will be sending my T610 to Sony Ericsson today and listing the problems I have found with it, I will include that in my problems with the phone, On the phone they said they said I will get the phone back within a day via special delevery which i doubt somehow.

the manual says

You can choose a ring signal that rises in steps from the lowest volume to the highest.

To turn increasing ring volume On or Off, scroll to settings, Sound and Alerts, Increasing Ring.

that's the user guide pdf from the se web site! so it appears to be a feature that can be disabled, but it seems that users have found that they are stuck with ascending ring tones

Phone #2 has arrived...but it hisses as much as the last. I am surprised they didn't sort it prior to release. When there were problems with the 7210, it was delayed, sorted and then released. Would save everyone lots of time and money!!!

@jellyellie

I renewed my contract with T-Mobile and they basicaly said I could have the phone for free! I blagged it saying I was gonna cancel and got the T610 for free and 400 X-net minutes and 50 texts for £30 a month! Not bad eh ^_^

My T610 has hissing by the way.. Apart from that v nice phone, the STN screen, while far better than T68i's took some getting using used to after using my P800.

@Mikey

I have been advised by T-Mobile to return the phone on their DSR 7 day thing. The phone is faulty and they are considering a recall. I have been told that some of their dealers are startig to recall phones.

Having just Called Celestica about the repair of the T610, I was told thatthe phone wont evem be looked at for at leeast another 10 days because the have not got any system in place for repairing the T610, I am getting vey upset with the way sony ericsson is handling the problem. Is it much too ask for a middle/top of the range mobile phone to have decent call quality?!?!?!?!?

It was mostly in quite areas, thats when it was extremly noticable, it wasnt as bad in out door areas, but thats not the point, I should be able to use the phone it any situation and have accepable call quality, Which I dont think the/my T610 was.

Originally, when I spoke to the people at Sony Ericsson, they told me that the repair procedure was now in place (with a 1 day turnaround)and to send the handset off to Celestica (this was on Wednesday the 28th of May).

I sent my phone off to Celestica that same day and on Friday I had not yet received it so I callled to see what the delay was.

I was then told that they were awaiting parts and the repair procedure would now start on Wednesday the 4th of June and that I would get my phone back on Thursday/Friday.

I called Celestica this morning and was now told that it would be 5 to 6 weeks before they could repair the problem and get the phone back to me!!!!!!!

The reason I was given is that they are still not sure what the problem is.

I've asked them to send me back the handset ASAP and will be returning it to the T-Mobile store as soon as I get it back from Celestica.

I have to say that the way this issue is being dealt with by Sony Ericsson/Celestica is appalling. We are constantly getting conflicting information and NOBODY seems to know exactly what the problem is and how to fix it.

I seriously regret having adopted the T610 so early and have really lost faith in Sony Ericsson.

That is exactly how i was treated and I am appaled, I also regret having purchased the phone, which is a shame because it is a great phone. When I called Celestica today they told me that it would be at least 10 days before they will get the parts, but I still demanded I got the Phone sent back to me. i am really dissapionted in the way I have been treated by sony ericsson, Very dissapionted.

I have exactly the same problem with mine and my girlfriends, but the hiss is not realy that bad, not as bad as an 8310 I once had, but I agree about the ring signal you cant take it off increasing ring, but if you get a loud enough ring tone then it dosn't seem to be that bad either.
Its a great phone and Im loathed to get rid of it but I will be taking it back to T mobile tomorrow for them to look at it, that way I can try there new batch and if there any better I can do a straight swap for a new one. They have put a couple by for us, which is unheard of at other mobile phone shops, all they want to do is send them back for repairs.
