Well, I can use the words DUMB and IDIOT to describe SE and their programmers for removing fax capabilities from the P800, having no voice recording during a call for BOTH parties, and for not including a video recording app by default... that's not just DUMB... that's absolutely RETARDED!!!! Grrrrr.... I honestly don't know who to blame for all this bureaucratic BULL$#!+ is throwing at us..Sony or Ericsson. This is really all crap... did SE piss of someone sooo bad that they are the ONLY mobile phone manufacturer restricted from making voice recordings and video recording apps? |

Cuz I'd rather have the crappiest SE phone than the best Nokia... it's still better for me... I'd actually prefer a Motorola over a Nokia. |

All the people that own the P800 go on about the Video function on the Nokia. Have they tried it, cause if they had they would realise that it is crap.
You can only record about 12 seconds, then once you've recorded them it will "think about it" for about 40-70 seconds, before you can do anything else.
Then you have a look at the "GREAT!!" masterpiece you have captured and you decide it's crap and delete it.
What chance has the P800 got when the camera isn't as good as the Nokia's?? Not much in my opinion.

Actually, the new video app for the 7650 and 3650 have no time limits, record til your memory is full... and capture audio as well.
It's just to capture funny moments... not for broadcast ya know. It will never replace a proper 3-chip DV cam. |

Cant some software developer make the api continusly take pics and sound then put it all together to make a video? |

Well actually all video is is a bunch of still frames together so using the API to compile a process of stitching the still images together to get motion. I think that it is very feasible for someone with the right knowledge to do this for the rest of us that don't want one of those horrible nokia phones |

What they are saying is that api doesnt directly provide video and zoom capabilities nor flash api for flash addon modul.
But it doesnt mean that developer cannot make video recorder out of it...
I was waiting for this but my problem is that i dont wanna throw another 400$ for Metrowerks Codewarrior so i can properly code in c++ and debug on PC for p800.
BTWI made Flash(swf) recorder and flash video distribution server and i wanted to port it also for my p800 but lack of good free dev tools and time kept me out. |

Just to clear a few things:
The Hardware of the p800 can record a video with sound!
The API is capable of recording a video. From a programmers point of view. If you cant record a video directly from the camera you can record what is viewed from the screen and then just record the sound at the same time. It is possible! So dont freak out about not having it. It will come. You will use it for a day and then forget about having it! My girlfriend has teh 3650. And she doesnt record a single thing.
All you need is the right tools(software), the API and some time! I would do it if I knew c++. It cant be that hard. Its a pitty thou, cause I know VB, VBS, ASP, PHP,JAVA and SQL. Never realy learnt C++ because there is to much money in the PHP MySQL world!
What you guys should be doing is, open a trust account, all put in there $20 each. I am sure that there is about 250 people that want it. Which is a total of(in my head) $5000. That would cover it easy! Got to a software company that programs with C++ and pay them to write it, that way you can ask what you want the program to do(zoom(must be digital!),etc...) Now I wish our company wrote c++ apps cause I think there is money to be made there!!!

@Zen Master... I know it is possible but that's not the point... why give developers a harder time? They're the ones making the P800 more useful everyday... why try to slow down development of your OWN product?!?! |

well i dont know this from a fact. but they are not making it harder for te developers. The only reason why i think that they did no release the video function because there never was one in the first place!
This phone came out early this year, but really came out april last year!!!! So my theroy is that they never intended to release a video recording program cause this phone was out of league already, remember each new release must be better then old one, or you will ever buy a new product!
Because they never intended video in the first place why turn around now and make one! I am sure the programmer did not say, hay we will leave this part out! It was never there! |
