No, i have asked but there is no visual way of identifying the hissing batch, especially since it is a component change and not firmware upgrade. |

Just called SE Service Centre and was told that there is no firmware or hardware component available to change the T610, contrary to what SE customer care has said.
Left hand not talking to right hand again...
Another bummer... |

This is bad news. But thanks for the word up. Looks like I wont be buying the T610 this weekend at midvalley, have to wait again for the new batch to arrive. grrr...
@markng, just want to check, you bought the phone from the "Malaysia's batch" right, not via mail order or imported from other countries?

Novell : Its not an imported T610. Its a T610 meant for the Malaysian market. Distributed by T.Choice Sdn Bhd.
Here's another bad point : Even for a light user like myself (about 4 calls/day lasting 3-4 mins/call...5-6 SMS), a fully charged battery will only last 2 days.
Its kinda disheartening. I'm bringing back my phone to Amcorp mall next Monday. Sometimes the hissing is so bad that u don't wanna talk on the phone. |

markng: i also bought one from KL, m'sia only this week. and it's from T Choice also.
but it seems mine do not have that hissing problem u r talking about.
can u describe to me how's the hissing problem? is it loud until u cant hear what the caller is saying or vice versa? i ve been using it for bout 4 days only. may i know how much u bought the phone for and when?
and there's another thing i wanna ask? how do i check whether i've got the lastest software ver.? thx

It depends.. I don't know on what. Sometimes it hisses real bad and sometimes its actually quite acceptable. I've noticed that when Celcom calls my phone (maxis) the hissing is pretty bad. With a Digi caller, its much better.
Maybe I'm being picky here but since so many people has that hissing problem, I don't think I'm the odd one out. Try listening for a background hiss when you're talking on the phone.
I got mine for RM 1570 without line. As for the software version, I can't remember the code..Its all around Esato.. Look out for it. I know mine is R7A.
How much did u get u'rs for and where did u buy it? I was wondering if I can call T Choice and ask for a replacement unit.

only now i came to notice there r some hiss sound in the background when i receive call. i got mine for RM 1599 w/o line also. bought from a dealer in jln. ampang.
as for the software ver., i just got the code from esato. it is >*<<*<*11 to check ur software ver. then scroll down to the end and i see "Customization MS - CDA102225/1 R7A and Customization TAE - CDA102225/1 R7A. is that the software ver?
i think i m gonna pay Ericserve a visit at amcorp mall tomolo? BTW did u fill in ur details in the warranty cert n mail back to them? bcuz i havent!:-) do i need to do so in order to get the warranty? |

You see, the irony of it all is that if I don't tell you there's a hissing sound, you probably won't notice it. None of my office colleague noticed the hissing sound until I told them about it. Once you are aware of the problem, the problem "seems" to get worst. That's how ridiculous we human beings are
You have the exact same firmware as mine. Don't go to EricServe just yet. Call them and ask if they have the necessary parts or whatever that will fix the problem. There's this guy called Jefferey which seems like a really nice guy when I talked to him and he did acknowledge the hissing problem (I was kinda surprised since I was expecting "Got meh?")
As far as I know, as long as u have the warranty form, you're covered although I might be wrong.
Call them and tell me what they say. I want to know as well.. BTW, what are u on? Celcom. Maxis, Digi.. |

psychofre@k, how bad is the hissing?
Bear in mind that all phones have some intentionally added "background noise" to let the users know that they are online. If the background noise is not added, then it would be total silence (like switched-off silence) when no one is speaking, even though they are online/connected.
According to the forums, this hissing problem is the "background noise" that is not configured properly, hence the hiss. So is yours really a hiss or just the normal background noise? And do you have the same short battery life like markng?
"(I was kinda surprised since I was expecting "Got meh?")"
Heheheh...from what I read in this forum, Jeff seems like a nice guy, not a "Got meh?" kinda person. I'll probably buy my T610 from him, that is if I do decide to buy it (starting to have second thoughts).

markng: thx for the advice.dont worry, i will keep u update once i ring them up.i m currently using Maxis.
Novell: i m sure that is the hiss sound (not the b/g sound) that i m talkin about. u wont notice it at 1st...but when u really listen to it carefully, the sound is there. this sound only apply to the caller not the receiver. the receiver wont hear any hiss sound at all. thank god the hiss sound of my phone is quite soft, but who knows it may be gettin worst each day. Prevention is always better than cure better solve this b4 the warranty expires!
As for the batt life, i cant tell u rite now cuz i've been experimenting it almost everyday since i bought it 3 days ago. all i can tell u is after the whole day of experiment it left bout 1/2 of the batt life when fully charged. my experiment is inclusive of uploadin polyphonic tones, screen saver, pics, synchronizing etc.
Hope it will answer ur question!

Hey Psychofreak,
Did u call EricServe yet? I gave them a call this morning and he says I'm still the only one that made a complaint. I find it hard to believe though. He told me to bring my phone in next week for a replacement. I hope he keeps his word. |
