the thing is buy it from ur thrusty dealer, not in black market so if u hv some problm w/ ur unit u can send it back 2 them. As from my experience over all I LOVe MY P800!!! absolutely a great fone!!!

Well my P800 is the first thing i touch in the morning & the last thing i touch at night (well most of the time  ) its a very usable piece of kit & worth the money, mine doesnt crash. i use file manager to close running apps if memory gets tight.its NOT as delicate & fragile as people think, its just a bit different to get used to, when you do (takes a while) its the best thing on the market.
If some people in this thread dont rate the p800 then thats fine as you need to hear as many opinions as you can. |

oh one more thing..
this is really strange, lots of ppl keep calling P800 crap, and they are so proud saying that they have sold their P800..
but the weirdest thing is.. if they hate P800 that much, why they are still here in P800 forum?

The P800 is the most versatile phone/PDA on the market today. Nothing else comes even close. Yes, Its pricey, but then ... you get what you pay for. I've had my phone for 4 months now and other than having to re-boot once or twice, its been a breeze. If you are looking for the future, this is it! |

With regard to crashes - I have had my P800 for around 2 months. I have a 128Mb Duo and a bluetooth bud for my PC. I have installed most applications out there on at least a trial basis. I sync with Lotus Notes, I use GPRS/WAP, listen to MP3s/OGGs, read novels (on my 5th), etc. That is, I use the P800 to the max and I have had maybe 3 crashes, usually to do with a new application that has a memory leak, etc. (nothing to do with SE). These issues get fixed by the software authors pretty quickly anyway.
Overall the phone hardware is simply fantastic. If I am being reasonable and comparing with other devices then I couldn't really fault it - there are very few devices with this range of features and functionality. Sure there is room for improvement - IR range could be better, you should be able to upgrade firmware yourself, the speakerphone could work better as the echos are bad, battery life could be better, they could ship it with a stereo adapter for the headphones, etc. However if you look at any device at this level of detail you will find faults - usually much worse.
If there is anything that lets the P800 down it is the software that ships with the device but this can and is being improved. Examples include lack of anniversaries in the calender (but you can get Handy Dates to fix this), a less than ideal application UI (but Tracker is good here), etc. Most software issues will be resolved by either SE or third parties in short order.
I used to use a Palm V and a simple Nokia - any regrets in moving to a P800? Not one.

I have plan to buy P800 too. But, after reading all these debates (good and bad), it made me lost. Hardly know who is telling fact and lie? I have the same question to myself: SHOULD I BUY P800? |

I moved from a Nokia 9210 to the P800. I was going to keep both but decided within a week to sell the Nokia. I have not regretted it. I've had a couple of crashes on the phone in 2 months and one incident where I installed an application that caused other apps to disappear - a quick restore from a recent backup restored the phone to new.
The bottom line is that the more features and functions you write into software, the more likely bugs are to creep in. How many people are there out there that hate Windows but we (mostly) all still use it. It is still the undisputed market leader despite being full of bugs and security holes.
The P800 (IMHO) is far from as buggy as Windows. Yes, some people have had bad experiences, especially with the older firmware but I am on the whole very pleased with mine. (I nearly had an involuntary bowel evacuation when half my apps disappeared though!) And where else are you going to find a phone currently that does everything that the P800 does with the future expandability that the OS platform allows?
My advice: Test it in a shop beforehand if possible. Try to buy from somewhere that gives you a 14 day guarantee. I don't think you'll be disappointed... |

I have no regrets about bying the p800.... Sure it crashes from time to time... But so what? It will reboot in less than 30 sec.
And what is up about comparing it to that stupid samsung. They are not in the same league! The samsung is a toy.
See if you can browse the web,send/receive emails and listen to mp3s at the same time with the samsung...
Will get hard won't it?
Not to mention doom,irc,msn, +++++++
It's not a phone for everyone. But it certainly is a phone for me!
Best phone/pda/gadget I've ever had!

a couple of things i would like to mention here...
1. yeah it's expensive. So what? It's a top of the range device so if you can't afford it don't look at it. You won't hear many people stood in a BMW garage complaining that the M3 is unreasonably expensive and that they'd sell a lot more if they priced it at £10k... Equally if you want to buy tyres for it, they'll cost a lot more than buying tyres for a Mondeo. I hate annalogies, but this is the case with so many things. I actually don't think £90 for a 128mb duo is ridiculous - I was about to buy one of those 32mb usb pen drive things for about £30..
2. mine's crashed 6 times since I bought it in february. It never bothers me in the slightest except when it is during composing an sms. I can cope with that.
3. As for looking after it and it being fragile.. Mine has been dropped now quite seriously about 4 times. It has a massive dent near the jog dial, the flip cover is scratched and theres marks near the speaker. The phone still works 100% and as it's insured I don't feel like I have to wrap it in cotton wool whenever I take it anywhere. If it breaks I'll get another.
A guy in the pub last night asked me if it was a good phone, whilst a friend of mine was watching porno mp4's on it stood at the bar. I said its absolutely brilliant - but you need to be a techy to get the most from it.. moreso than a 9210.

The SE P800 is the best phone I ever had. I don't know a feature that I haven't used yet on this great phone. Mine has crashed a few times, but I have never lost anything when installing aps and beta aps. Only thing I know which I don't like about this phone is that the resolution is 4096 colours. Correct me if I am wrong though.

Well said mate I agree with all your points!!!
My p800 hardly ever crashes, my old SL45i used to crash more!! I really enjoy putting 3rd party apps on there and trying new things out. I have not noticed any problems with anything so far.
I would never give up my p800, I think it is the best thing since sliced bread. If you can afford it then it is the only phone/pda you will ever need. Of course there are going to be people that don't like it or have problems with it but from experience they are in the minority.

Yes my P800 has crashed. Yes it's fiddly and requires 2-handed operation in many cases. Yes there are software concerns. Yes things like no SMS return receipts (I cannot upgrade to R2D where I am) is annoying. BUT the P800 is in a league of its own. It's a SMARTPHONE with functions that kick the a** off other phones. I loved my T68i. I still do. I hated the P800 the first few days I had it and was getting used to it. BUT now would I trade it or get rid of it? HELL NO. It's a fine piece of kit that does the job well and with S/W Upgrades will be kicking more butt. P800 rules for me - and there's no doubt. |
