A frequent expression I come across when discussing OCS is to use the rule of three: phone them up three times and take the average of the three different answers you get

Thats a philosophy I use with most customer services these days. The problem is what to do when you get 3 different answers!

Why blame Orange? It's Virgin that are doing it. |

@simon69c
do agree with you if you have had a bad experience with a customer services dept or just not got the answers you need then you do get put off using the company.
the 3 rule is pretty good for most customer services depts.
i suppose they dont get paid mega money and probably have to put up with a lot of daft questions so when people who phone up and have a bit of knowledge on a topic they just get lost as they arent us to it (not all but some)
guess you use what works for you and at this pointin time orange work well for me in terms of service and contracts |

Orange are the most expensive operator out there! Take for example
Talk 60
Text 120
Orange - £27
Vodafone - £15
Even 02 for example:
500 msgs, 100mins - £25
I am basing this on minutes to any network which i am guessin most ppl are on. Orange are clearly the most expensive. |

Actually it isn't Virgin's fault - their policy on 0800s hasn't changed. In fact OVP Virgin used to give you a better deal than you should have got - on real Virgin only a specific list of 0800s for charities were free whereas OVP Virgin gave pretty much all 0800 free (except for known calling card services).
Ok so Orange were being particularly nice (in relation to the other networks) for offering pretty much universal free 0800 - but it was a major reason for me rejoining Orange in the first place. Only a couple of months after doing so they've moved the goalposts. Just because everyone else in the UK mobile world charges for 0800s doesn't doesn't make it right!
Anyway - now OVP Virgin is worse than real Virgin coz they don't even give these charity numbers for free either. I do hear that Orange will be mirroring Virgin's new 3p on-net SMS tariff change though so it isn't all bad. Pity I'm no longer on OVP Virgin to take advantage of it!
@gemini
Yes they are the most expensive with the new Your Plan tariffs. The old talkplans were much better value (and most included free Orange Care for example). Don't forget though that Orange mirror a wide-range of competitor tariffs on their OVP (Orange Value Promise) scheme so you get the better value of other tariffs with the other ?benefits? of being on Orange - like in theory good customer service
Why anyone would be joining Orange now with the Your Plan schemes is beyond me - there must be very few users who would actually be better off on them. I expect it is just unawareness of the OVP tariffs that does it.

they have fallen behind in the bolt on prices ie text etc
but they are still cheap in my opinion for call charges some of the other netwroks take the p**s with call charges during the day unless you go onto one of there £30 a month tariffs and the daytime call prices drop a fair bit
what happened to xnet mobile calls dropping in price thought this was the reason why comapny stopped giving free insurance and free 0800 calls away
as they had to reduce call to other mobile

First post,
my orange contract ran out in april so i've been waiting with baited breath for word on the T610. I've been calling Orange CS every few days for updates to be told that either they had no information or more recently that they should have them in may. just spoke to someone in upgrades who said that the latest they have is JULY, no pricing confirmed yet.
just reading through the thread, @simon69c: etccomms has been offering preorders for the 610 on orange for almost a month now, i called them and they said they had no concrete information on a release, i can't imagine that pricing info is anything official...
edit: sorry, just read kaiesha's latest post, this seems to be the official line then

I heard PAYG was £200 from the link, which sounds about right. |

Do you mind telling me where you heard/read this, as this is a fu*king good price, but i think that you mis-read. I am planning to buy it on that OVP virgin tariff, for 269.99 or 279.99, cant remember exact site. So, £200 on PAYG, would be ideal for me, if you can confirm that for me? Also, did the link say when they get it? As July and June maybe too long of a wait for me

I've been hanging out on the Howard forums as well...

Apparently its in the latest brochure. It doesn't sound too implausible (considering you can get it free on some contracts). As far as I can work out, the T610 was supposed to come out around now, but it seems to have been delayed till the end of the month/start of next. Hopefully this is to sort out any remaining bugs! |
