Great, 0.5 OggPlayer is a great step forward but there are a few bugs I have emailed the author about.

Can work around them for now.

Simple question, sorry if it's been asked before (I've searched but not found) - I've downloaded the Oggplayer.sis file and installed it, I've converted some MP3's on my PC ready to try, but for some reason I can't (won't allow me) to transfer the ogg file into the audio folder on the P800 ready for my to play - What am I doing wrong?

Cheers in advance

It says on the website where u got the player from that it wont let you transfer them into the audio folder, you have to drop them into the documents folder.

great program!
but as bigger memory sticks become more widely available and cheaper, wouldnt the novelty of this program wear off?
i mean, you wouldnt have to sit there converting all your stuff.

More praise for this program from me - got my 128Mb Duo about a week ago and have now started converting a bunch of albums to Ogg -quality is very good @ 64Kbs, album is about 20Mb. Got a TwinMOS 7-in-1 card reader today too so should speed up transfer to just a few minutes hopefully.

The program is coming along very well - just needs a few more features just as playlists, playing individual folders, etc. Another good idea might be a lock function in this program - I have found that if I want to play music but put my P800 in my pocket I have to switch to Handy Day and then lock it. Then, to stop a track or adjust the volume I have to unlock, and navigate to OggPlay first. Maybe a lock that still allowed you to change volume with the jog dial would be good. Finally, if it's possible to stop the skipping when switching apps then that would be great - maybe a bit more buffering of the track whilst playing?

Anyway, quality app, a must have if you want to use your P800 as a music player.

Oh I just love this app. Just converted a 6302 kb mp3 to a 1500 kb ogg file and it sounds great!
The FC mode is awsome! now i can adjust the volume without having to open the flip! It's great!

@alfaromeo777

Just depends on the relative bitrates. A 192Kb mp3 converted to a 48Kb Ogg is 192/48 = 4. i.e. the Ogg file will be 4 times smaller, almost exactly (disgregarding the id3 bumf, etc in the file).

The format is irrelevant in these calcs - it's all down to bitrate.

Please tell me how you did this, as I'm finding it hard to believe ! Sorry but thats over 75% compression. The MP3 must have been at a stupidly high bitrate to have compresses it that much.

I've been converting 128kbit MP3s to 64kbit Oggs and its been reducing the size by about 1MB.
