Guys
Please leave EMMA alone! If you people start screwing around SE are going to have to pull the plug to stop it. Then that means delays in any future upgrades while they get things sorted.
Just be bloody patient!!! |

xmob,
we are not doing anything to harm emma, we (at least me) haven't done anything illegal. the download is on the site and it does not specificaly forbid normal people using it. they probably understand that it is virtually uhhackable, because you need harware, not software to access it.

Guys...leave the site alone...maybe we will slow down the progress of our sw upgrade. The hardlock is some hardware thing that opens the phone for flashing. I do not think you can emulate this from the com port. Having said that I do not realy understand why the have this protection anyway if owners were allowed to flash their phone using the rs cable (at their own risk of course) they would have to spend less money on the sp upgrading phones. I guess maybe the worry is that it would be possible to read the program and copy (steal) parts of it...I am not an expert regarding this. Anyway consider the site very close to the source...but unfortunately of no big use for us at this moment...Letīs hope the new sw is released tomorrow.. ) If not you can start producing the MMSs using the free sw at:

But you need to register before downloading.
Cheers!

Hi guys.
Don't mess up the EMMA 2-server. That was not my intention when I posted this topic! I just wondered what that site was, and now we know. Please leave it alone! Thanks!

I wasn't accusing anyone of messing, just making sure lurkers etc know the score. I can remember when Hardlock was implemented at Ericsson. Working in the IT Dept I was among the team that spent considerable time and effort setting it all up. It's not just used by service centers, it's used in nearly every stage of production and so is essential to the manufacture of handsets. Think of the consequences if this all had to be changed. |

From the site:
To use EMMA II it is necessary to connect both a hardlock and flash programming equipment to the PC.
2.1 Hardlock
The hardlock, product number KRY 105 165, must be connected to a parallel port on the PC.
Please take note that there are two different hardlocks used for maintenance of Ericsson GSM mobile phones. One hardlock allows software upgrade of a mobile phone and swap of customer unique data. The second hardlock allows some additional service operations such as Channel Indicator settings etc.
Depending on the hardlock used, you may or may not be able to use all of the features in EMMA II.
2.2 Flash Programming Equipment
There are several types of flash equipment provided by Ericsson for the various types of mobile phones. This release of EMMA II supports both the NTZ 112 311 (for 4v phones), and the NTZ 112 334 (for 3v phones) programming interfaces. If you use the NTZ 112 311 interface you will also need a programming cable that is compatible with the mobile phone.
Please take note of which COM port on the PC the interface is attached to, since preferred port can be set in configuration settings for EMMA II.
The flash programming equipment, with or without an additional flash programming cable is further referred to as the programming equipment. |
