@andrew99, of course there are a few times when a video call would be great... occulars, remote inspections, approvals, etc.. but seriously.. how often? And like I said... those 0.1% of people who use video calls regularly can actually live using EDGE (384kbps)... it doesn't HAVE to be 3G...remember, PacketVideo only uses up 40kbps to offer live streaming videos! (The only reason PacketVideo can't handle live video from a CURRENT GPRS phone is because CURRENT upload speeds are only 14.4kbps)
Now, if you're willing to sacrifice ALL the features of the P800 just so you can make a video call... then go ahead. I personally find all the 3G handsets kinda ugly (not that the P800 looks that great either) they remind me of the 1st generation GSM handsets.
And like I said 3G isn't some Holy-Grail. It's just faster data. That's all. All for what? Video? It's great if it's there... but I won't seriously give up all my functionality now, just to have video.
Oh, and just a note... Yahoo Webcam works just fine with current GPRS speeds... it's not the Super Webcam .. but hey, it's here now..and works everywhere GPRS is available...try it with your laptop & webcam!!! ( I tried it with my desktop once when my cable service was down for the day!!! )
@suzi... other than the rotating screen (this might break unless the phone is made of metal) ... this looks similar to the Z1010 which also has 2 cameras. |
