When you guys say "I expected more", I am wondering what exactly did you expect? Serious, did you want a lap top on your phone? heh.

well not really, but i think more than 2mb would be good, memory stick even better. i was very suprised to find out about no VGA and MCA-2X having better resolution. i thought i'd be able to play mp3's on it. i want my next phone to be a multimedia one, so the new siemens looks good for me. i love the t68i, revolutionary for its time. the t610 is also, just not as much. i'll wait, unless i can get it for $200 USD or less.

I think the design is great. Not too fancy as many of the new Nokia-models... It will definately be my next phone!

I'm feeling a bit dubious on the design. On the one hand it isn't actually that bad and it might even look better in real life, who knows. It's just that I really miss the charm of Ericsson's design. The Ericsson phone designs just had a certain feel to it, something personal, something beautiful. I miss that in thew new SonyEricsson designs. They're a bit too straight and blocky for my tastes. But then again the T610 isn't in my budget range.
I feel about the same about the T310 although the blue and purple versions of it look slightly better and it will be somewhat more affordable for me

I take the liberty of quoting myself (and indirectly my colleagues at our dpt. )

Result from inofficial poll here at my office:

"Too bad.. they obviously donīt want a bigger share of the market judging by the design.."

"What is it? A calculator? A remote control?"

"Congrats! First the t300 GH198-retro lookalike and now this?"

"I didnīt know Motorola and Panasonic had a joint venture going on"

"Like exchanging the Corvette with a Lada, jeez"

"Not what i would call a must have.. or even want for that matter.."

"But seriously, were they in some kind of hurry?"

Sorry to say that i can only agree with the above. I fear Nokia and Siemens will be the winners because you canīt possibly buy this one for the looks or design??

Sad to say but I'm sure the new designs are Sony's influence... if you look at all the old Sony mobile phones...you'll see they look very similar. Doesn't Sony get it? They had a smaller market share than Ericsson cuz they had FU-UGLY phones. Ericsson had a larger share cuz they had the technology & design...but not the marketing arm, or manufacturing capabilities to meet their demand.

Right now, seems that Ericsson isn't really contributing anything design-wise. All Ericsson seems to be adding to is their technology. Come on Ericsson... can't you guys even give away just ONE good designer to ??? have mercy on their in-house designers!!! Apparently is so strapped for cash, that the €300 that Sony & Ericsson dished out couldn't get them better drawing tools... just basic rulers! HAHAHAHAHA!

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the sleekness of the new designs... I just feel they could refine them a bit more. SPECIALLY THE FU-UGLY BUTTONS!!!

The design is not what we were expecting when we were all thinkng about the t68 successor. Nevertheless the design is unique and i dare to say elegant. I am just a bit dissapointed that, as mentioned above, the ericsson curves that made the t68 such a hit have dissappeared.

When a company releases a phone (t68m) that it cannot meet the demand for, over 4-5months, and that every is going crazy about, you simply just dont eradicate it with the next model... you try and build on it. With the features i can see that, but not with the design. Still the design is good and will attract a more mature consumer range than the t68 did

I think part of the inspiration for the T610 design is actually an old Japanese Sony handset, their first w/ bluetooth over 2 years ago.

I wish it did look more like the R520... anyway... the joystick was Ericsson's idea. Sony's is the Jog-dial remember? You decide which is more practical.

Anyway.. I know design is subjective... I only feel that designs now are rushed...they look unfinished. They are ok... but could be great with more refinement. Right now, I feel the rounded corners and flat edges are in the wrong places.
