idiots who support Ericcson or Nokia like they're a football team need to get a life.

Ericsson & Sony have spent the past few years producing nothing but sh**, so it's good they get together and knock heads, it seems to have worked so far, hope they keep it up...it was getting boring predicting what Nokia phone i was getting in a years time anyway.

Hehe, I almost agree. All these years Ericsson have really sucked making cellphones. Untill now!

Well I do believe too, that its a marketing/branding name-thing, and nothing else.

From the company's point of view its surely the right thing to do.
They want their name on one of the most popular phones right now,..and the new japanese design-chief get a chance to "show his face" at the same time.

IF, and I say if, they are to release the T-68i now, then its not what I understand by "good marketing",...you dont replace an almost new product so soon after.

Somewhere in peoples heads/minds, they will feel that they have an "old" model, whether one likes it or not.
Because theres a newer one out there on the streets. For some it wont matter that much, but for others it will.
personally I dont care, because I dont fancy the T68i,..it lost its very good looks/curves, now it just looks like any other "plastic-phone".

Some car-manufacturers did this some years ago,..they face-lifted models every 3-4 months,..and their sales dropped.
people got a new car,..they thought !

I believe the right way to do it, would be to release the model later on,..lets say in june/july,...then the people with the T68M would "feel" that their model, could stand a facelift

On the other hand, in june/july, Sonyericsson might have a newer more advanced model out, sooo

This is my personal opinion.

I wont get into the Nokia/ericsson-war here, thats not the issue.

*Laughs* I'm sorry... I was only joking about the whole Ericcson/Nokia thing If they released a phone I liked, I'm sure I'd be the first to buy it and spout its praises. No offense meant.

I just want to comment to the issue regarding whether the new T68i is just a new shell with new firmware or not.

I do not think that the hardware different between the T68m and T68i is that big, but what are the odds that SonyEricsson havent made the slightest hardware changes, when releasing this new model? Regarding the problems which are present today, display-light and slow menues/T9... even with the newest software R2B you can see that the slowness problem has been attempted to be solved with the faster repeat rate, but faster it hasn't become really, which seems to be because of plain hardware limitations.
Look at the T66, these menues are super nice and fast, like using a Nokia isn't it likely that this also will be present in the T68i? And regarding the display light, well you have all seen the pictures of the new T68i, right?

And I hope you all can agree when I'm saying that the biggest pain in the ass, when it comes to the T68, is that it's to freakin slow!

T68girl > The comment I made on the "ericsson-nokia-war", wasnt meant to "hit you", hehe...it was more like a standard-thing.

People should be able to talk about one brand alone,..the one that interests them, without "beating up" another brand.

Specially if the discussion has nothing to do with another brand.

well, I'm not so sure that it's hardware-limitations, my guess is that the T68i that's been tested have the unrelease MMS-software... or I saw on the pictures that this was the case (one of the pictures was taken when they were in the service-menu)

I think that the MMS-software is much faster and that when we (T68 owners) upgrade to it (and get T68m mobiles ) or phones will be just as quick as the T68i and the T66 (My sister has this one so I've tried it and it's fast alright )...

Those were my thoughts

I got a hard time believing that SonyEricsson wouldn't have solved this slow menues problem if it was possible. Over the years new firmware releases have made the Ericsson phone slightly faster, like the latest for the T68 R2B, but not as fast as you really could wish from a phone. I do not believe that any "miracle" software could make the T68 as fast as the T66, this could after my understanding only be a HW issue.

I think it's utopia to think that the MMS firmware upgrade will give the T68 all that we are dreaming about.
