Video fov has really improved from the new sensor ratio.
Yes, multi aspect sensor is to keep same fov between 4:3 and video ratios.
I just wish the usable 4:3 area was 1/1.3" instead, also a WRGB cmos.
Now that 5v did not show up, hard to imagine new pro-i now.
Bonus: no " silver" for Taiwan, because white was least sold of mark 4 and this "silver" is very close to white. They think ppl may not like again. Looks like black is most popular in Europe while Purple was in Asia.

3 things I dont understand
1) why removing notification light?
2) seriously ufs3.1?
3) sony claims back is glass, but it does exctly same noise of plastic if you scratch it. Very suspicious.
Well cost cutting is obvious. I'm not sure how much they saved by removing LED notification light considering they had to modify screen bezel in order to hide the translucent part. How much they could have saved there on a whole batch of let's say 700,000 phones? $35K total?
Glass on the back probably has thinner coating because of the diamondback structure. If they went thicker texture would have been lost. I always found Samsungs notorious for plastic feel and sound compared to Xperia because it was obvious they put less coating on the back of their phones, even on front. Xperia back in the XZ days didn't try to save on glass coating. It was thick and when you knocked on it had the thud sound. |

I know this guy. Last year he shi***d on 1iv when it was announced. Basically called it "dead on arrival".
But when he got his hands on it, he suddenly fell in love.
Has anyone here placed order?
Can so eone check if it is really getting out of stock in China already?

A comment from gsmarena:
Pre-orders in China higher than expected.
Reception is better than mark2, the generation considered the best among the 4 previous.

While most of us agree that 1IV should have been 1III it was actually Sony who knew something we didn't - upcoming phone market plunge. They knew whole industry will take a hit so they just cruised through it with slightly updated 1II as a testbed for variable zoom lens. 1IV was actually the first ever real deal 1 series phone that did everything right but the market was still struggling. Great preorder numbers (allegedly) for 1V come from recovering market in general. Overall 1V is just a slight evolution of 1IV so it's not the features or redesigned looks that got the preorder numbers jacked up, it's macroeconomics. |

The fact the device can easily record over 1h of 4K without even showing the temperature message is bringing back many that skipped mark 4. Something simple that sony could have done in 2021. 🤦🏻♂️
Bonus: Unlocked version (16/512GB) in Japan to cost equivalent to US$ 1274
does he mention over 3h of 4K@60? https://youtu.be/6EKqdS7R8Ts

On that video on the 4th minute he state ambience temperature of 18-22 degrees. SO it's no wonder he can record more than 3 hours. Somebody should try it on 35 degrees Celsius ambience temperature and update the 4k60fps endurance haha

about storage, looks like it is lottery, like a mix between 3.1 and 4.0. On weibo, ppl say silver is out of stock in China. I do not know how many were pre-ordered. |

1v vs 1iv : https://www.eprice.com.tw/mob[....]1-iv-12gb_256gb-XQ-CT72-review
Q&A with sony I have seen on weibo.
Q: What are the advantages of the new Exmor T for mobile image sensor and double-layer transistor pixel structure?
A: Without increasing the thickness and weight of the fuselage, the image function of the dark light environment can be improved.
Q: In the past, the cameras of Sony mobile phones tended to be "straight out". Why did new AI be added this time?
A: Enhance the accuracy of exposure, white balance and focus through AI to improve the picture quality.
Q: What are the improvements in introducing color science and S-Cinetone from Sony cinematography?
A: You can feel the color of the alpha camera on your mobile phone, and there is also a wider performance space, straight out of the cinematic color.
Q: The UI of the camera still takes some time to adapt. Why did you choose such a design?
A: Provide more choices to different users, so that advanced users can achieve the experience of operating the camera through the manually set UI.
Q: What are the improvements to the speaker?
A: Insist on using dual forward symmetrical speakers, and choose higher-power speakers to improve the breadth and depth of the sound.
Q: Why do you still insist on keeping the 3.5mm headphone jack?
A: I believe that Sony mobile phone users usually have high requirements for images. Although wireless headphones are convenient, the sound quality and the performance of presence and three-dimensional sense are still insufficient.
Q: What are the improvements in the screen of this generation?
A: Continue to use the hole-free and high-brightness 4K OLED display, support real-time HDR technology, and improve the viewing experience in any environment.
Q: The 4K resolution used in the size of the mobile phone has exceeded the upper limit of human eye perception, and may consume more power. What is the significance of this?
A: This is Sony's insistence on the ultimate performance of images, and it has also done some optimizations to balance image quality and battery life.
Q: There are some subtle diamond-shaped protruding designs on the back of this generation, and the frame also has a V-shaped groove texture. Why did you consider such a design?
A: It brings a more comfortable grip, non-slip, and not easy to stain fingerprints; in addition, a protective case of the same material is designed to further improve the feel.
Q: What is the meaning of the color matching of this generation, and how is the new green made?
A: Sony mobile phones hope to present a "camera-like" design. At the same time, the color can be suitable for different groups of people, and it is very natural to pick up. In the past, we released a lot of purple colors, but this time we made some adjustments and chose green.
Honestly, I am nothing convinced the back panel is glass. 🤔
Sales of unlocked japanese start soon. Equivalent to $1400 for 16/512GB device.

I just need confirmation that it has UFS4.0.
What's shown in the youtube video is not really convincing speed. |
