Tamiya chips too easily. I've tried both on my models, and find the Revell model paints to be a superior quality.

If I use the "Blue" revell gloss spray (clear blue laquer), I'll actually just add a thin laquer layer on top of the P800 light blue; the original "metallic" finish AND the SE logos will still shine through, but with more depth. This could be cool.

@ejasim,pachy - I managed to disassembly the p800 myself! there are only 4 screws and some clicks(I don't know the right word). One click is just over the MS Duo slot on the right side and one is below. All You can see if you take off the battery. Then you have to disconnect the jogdial. DELICATE! Next 2screws are holding the mainboard. If someone interested I'll try to send some photos... Regards! Peter

@rashkae- i thought of getting some extra housing too and paint it. the local service point sells a complete array. i have a couple of concerns though. yes, the stylus would be of a different color (if you color it, the paint might stick to the gray part where it lies)... the keypad can go. doesnt matter. and yes, where could we get the transfers for the "Sony Ericsson" label and the "M" label of the memory stick at the back...?

What about the :se: logo at the back of the p800? Will you paint it as well or just keep its originals colors?

@ferrarista I think there will be mineral gray p800. In 007 the Zao's p800 is Original Sony Ericsson-it has a Sony Ericsson on the faceplate. Regards! Peter

I'll protect the SE logo with a bit of tape; not problems there. As for the "transfers", they won't be covered up because I'm using CLEAR BLUE laquer. If anything, they'll now appear BLACK.

@Ferrarista: Where are you getting it from? SESS or Smartnet?

@PiotrMmX: The one Zhao used wasn't mineral-gray, but ALL-SILVER!! Looks so damn clean!!!

@PiotrMmX, As you may have read in my last post on this thread , i have already stripped the P800 down,& reasembled it (bit scary first time isn`t it) it`s just a case of getting the covers, my email to Semicon have not yet been answered.

@Ferrarista44, trying to change the stylus colour wouldn`t work, anyway colour is not strong on the stylus & it still match`s the taskbar,
The stylus & even the real flip doesn`t look bad if the phone is on the greyscale or black or dark blue.
I`m told the new grey colour p800 has a grey flip & stylus.
Reminder; milk, sugar, crisps, post letter.

@Rashkae-pm me your number,l'll send You mms with a photo from the movie. In my opinion there were two p800 used in the movie:one was silver(when zhao took the picture) and the second was mineral gray!(when zhao showed the Bonds photos!) I have cut out the second one. @Pachy : i have a second brand new faceplate! Both rear and front parts. By the way :did You know how to disconnect the jogdial?I had serious problems with that but I managed to do it.

pachy,

Did you take any photos of the insides of the P800?

Even instructions on openning it would be useful.

I didn`t take pics, there is a set of 9 stripped down pics on a forum i found a while back,on www.dreamsp.com.tw but it`s in chinese & i cant find them, get someone who understands it to do a search.
all the pics are of internals.
@PiotrMmx, i got my email back from Smartnet & it seems they have most parts but are short of, lower front cover (the one for flip "on") & also they can`t get the side blue strip (jog side). if you can provide me a complete set of blue parts, that would be great.

GSMphonesource is still saying that he'll actually get some of these official mineral grey covers in- whats everyone's opinion on this, i thought they weren't going to release any other colours for the P800? If i can get official .ones its obviously preferable, but otherwise i might have to look into painting my own.
