^ design is always subjective, for example I find the Galaxy S series design boring and stale while others may say the same about the Xperia Z series. Performance wise the majority of people that would potentially buy the E4 are mostly interested in looks and value for money and probably don't care if the SoC isn't 64bit ready or worry about viewing angles.

It's one thing to say an ugly design has become stale, and another to say a good looking design has become stale. I'd say Galaxy S series has become stale because of the cheap plastic feel, rounded edges, and the not so pleasant looks. Xperia's Omnibalance design might have become stale too, but at least it's got good looks to it.
Moto G has already got Snapdragon 400 SoC, it's only logical to go for its successor in order to give Moto G a fair competition. |

Did Google actually make any money off the Moto G? If not Lenovo will struggle that bit more and makes you wonder if they can keep selling them for almost no profit if that is the case. Google's bank account could take such a hit but not sure about Lenovo and certainly not Sony as that is a fight they can't won't want to get involved in.

@nodarsixar, so the comments about SONY moving to a 9/12 months circle were not accurate?

If true then only the flagship is moving from the six-month cycle, which is just one device in the whole of their portfolio - just to put keep things in perspective.
All other devices are on 12 months.
Z1C - Z3C - Z5C ?
Tablet Z - Z2 Tablet
Z Ultra - ?
Z3 Tablet Compact - Z5 Tablet Compact?
If they're going to focus more on high end devices, does this mean more bulking up of the the Z series? Or will the T Series see be reintroduced?

I think the 'no more 6 month cycle' quote is a reference to the lead handset of the series only and the numbering follows that of the lead handset.
ie.
We'll see in 1H2015:
Z4 (~5.2")
Z4 Tablet (~10.1")
Then in 2H2015
Z4 Compact (~4.7")
Z4 Tablet Compact (~8")
no lead handset (previously we might have expected Z5)
Not sure when they'll fit in a 6+ incher if at all. I feel Sony are probably biding their time with it, not wanting to release something that isn't spectacular and when the timing is right (in relation to the Note, Nexus and iPhone Plus).
So all n all the main differences are that we won't see a numeric incrementation twice a year and accordingly we won't see a 'flagship' I think they are hoping the Compact line can carry the flag.
This also cuts out the weird numbering and missed numbers for other series.
