Sad news indeed My first two phones are a nokia. I could never forget my 6230, it was the phone with the best keypad I had ever used and the most responsive during those s40 days.

Nokia company still exist but can never use lumia/asha. I'm thinking that they wll still produce low end handsets like the 1200, which are mighty 3310's successors in fact Nokia is always my first choice for a second (lowend) device as they were the toughest I've known. plus that 2 week battery life which is a feat no smartphone can ever achieve.
What I didn't get is that is Nokia not allowed to produce any Smartphones that are not WP? like Android or Firefox? or Ubuntu?

Wow, Microsoft did a really good job at destroying the most powerful mobile phone company, to take down such a big company in just few years, well done...
Yep. You know what though? This just proves and reinforces just how ruthless Microsoft are, no shame in their game, they will do whatever it takes to get what they want. Well done to them, I must say, Google with the Motorola deal are looking like idiots right now compared to this.

I wonder if now original Nokia classic devices will now become collectors items and sell for big money?? Sad day but I wonder if Samsung seen this coming with their lacklustre willingness for WP. @Tsepz_GP I thought the deal had gone through?? I thought Nokia had accepted the deal?? This needs to be out to shareholders too

Bono
The deal still has to go through regulators and so on, it will only be finished in Q1 2014, if it doesn't go through then MS have to pay Nokia a $750million termination fee.

I guess it also means the death of pureview |

Pureview as well as Nokia's imaging fame died when Dinning left Nokia, while I agree that 1020 has one of the best smartphonecameras today, if we look at it on a different perspective it is nothing but a failed twin of the 808, and there were people who still sticks with their 808 as it would feel like they downgraded their camera if they went for 1020.
Dinning's best legacy were the N8 and 808 IMHO

Didn't Nokia used to make trainers when they first started?? They started out as something completely different what I remember. As for Pure view didn't Nokia also sell their patents with this deal too??

I don't know but probably yes.
Who knows, maybe Microsoft sells back all this stuff when they realise they've done nothing with it.

They didn't sell their patent portfolio, which is the most essential part... they are leasing it to MS for a certain amount of time. Considering that every Android OEM is paying Microsoft for every android device sold, this isn't good news.. Now that they have tons of new patents at their disposal, they can start asking for more.
But its only a matter of time before Microsoft buys that as well..

This is the part that get's me the most... I didn't like the fact that Sony got Ericsson and now this is even worse

Microsoft is to many fields what EA is to games. Ea is where good games die.
Nokia is gone. I
hope Elop gets becomes the head of Microsoft. He'll destroy it. Good. |
