There are already several companies working on this...

One thing that will be required to be supported from the P800 is the SDC codec. Philips has donated the SDC codec for use in Bluetooth stereo headsets. This is looking like it will be the standard compression for sending audio out to the headset. The headset then has enough horsepower built in to decode the SDC stream. High-end stereo headsets will also include mp3 decoding, and possibly even storage to act as a standalone mp3 player.

It will be impossible to have a stereo headset on Bluetooth without having some sort of compression. The general feeling is, why not make that compression mp3?

Then the P800 does nothing more than store the songs and serve them up via Bluetooth.

I have seen real demos of a prototype stereo headset using SDC. It sounded pretty good...

Correction... I said SDC - I should have SBC (Sub Band Codec). Here's a link to more info...

I'm currently working with (JSR-82) The Java API's for Bluetooth and trying to get some applications going for the P800. I know that using the Bluespoon to listen to MP3s or for that matter any audio outputed from the SE P800 should be possible but I still haven't figured out how.

I know you are currently calling Bluespoons back for a firmware upgrade and also the P800 has an R1D upgrade. Does anyone know what the upgrade improvements are ? and is there anything audio related in each.

I want to use my Bluespoon as the source of all audio coming out of my P800 and so I'd love any help from the people at nextlink (i'm looking at you jh67) to help me as I code.

Cheers,

Dani
