nowmms seems to be back up, however i tried to send the test mms from their site and it never came. Yet, I was able to send one to myself and I received it and the delivery receipt mms too. I sent a few to friends, so I'll ask them later if they received them.

Oh, and remember when I said earlier that I doubt I would get an advertisement mms on my phone? Well I was wrong! Got one today from a stupid band. And it was 69KB! I figured it was going to be used for local marketing, but I now realize it could be quite useful for inter-national services, etc. Will have to be careful of what I download?

@CrazyStud17
Well, I was going to ask you if you received my mms, but as I write this your sms came through saying you did! It's exciting that it's actually working.

@AT&T
I know you guys read this, so please consider my perspective. Please do not restrict access to third-party services like nowmms. I pay you to be my service provider, not my content provider. If I choose to avoid your $0.40 charge/mms by using nowmms, it's my right to do so. Just as I may prefer Hotmail to my isp's mailbox, so should I have the option to choose another mms service. Now, based on the 69K mms ad I received today from nowmms' sponsor, I can plainly see the value of using your server/gateway, and I may very well decide to use AT&T MMS rather than deal with annoying ads from nowmms. But it should remain my choice.

AT&T should focus on promoting mobile data exchange in any of its forms, and should not worry about its users downloading free content (backgrounds, ringtones, themes, mms, etc.) from third-parties. Your job is to make me happy. On the same note, please be damned sure that future software releases include ALL the features I expect (please see the thread regarding the absence of the 'Save picture' feature from the web browser menu in AT&T T68i software version R5D007).

Tonight I exchanged mms' with a guy in Hawaii! This is a new and fun form of communication, and I know I will embrace it. And to think about what may come with the P800! The point is, I'm gonna need a good, fast, stable and reliable service to handle my wireless data needs over the next 20 years, so please allocate your resources to building towers, improving data infrastructure, etc. Your business model should not depend on revenue generated from content. If you want to offer your users fee-based content, fine. But please, please, please... realize the worst thing you can do, the fastest way to turn me off of your service, is to prevent me from getting to the content I want.

WoeDee

I've seen references to CSD in other threads, but I'm still not exactly sure what it is. "CSD" does not appear anywhere in the phone's menu tree (I think!). Would you please enlighten me?

CrazyStud17

My bad! You know I didn't mean anything by it.

CSD: Circuit Switched Data. Its like a dial-up data call you place to connect to a server.

@WoeDee
Is CSD like using a data modem over a voice line? Is the idea to avoid GPRS charges by using voice minutes instead? Like I said, there is no setting in the phone for CSD, and I don't think it's mentioned on their web site - although I should do a more thorough check to make sure. I suspect they so not support it. Can any AT&T peson here provide some clarification please?

Tried to send a couple this morning but nothing is going through. Just get the 'Sending' progress bar, then the "Network communications error. Please check your settings and try again."

The nowmms site is up, so I'm wondering what's going on. Anyone else try to send one today?

The nowmms service is unreliable. It will work sparatically and sometimes takes literally a few hrs before your MMS is received. Cant really complain; after all, it IS free :?

Its working again for me, thank goodness. WoeDee, I can see how its unreliable. The problem is, I'm so paranoid that every time I cant send or rec an mms, i start to think at&t is putting up blocks. This hasn't been the case, but like I said, I'm paranoid.
