its not a concern....its just look like a way to over come all the head count reduction they did for the past few years.
now when they try to grow....i am not surprise they notice a shortage of resources and they might be unwilling to grow so fast.
this approach have its pros and cons. sorry...maybe the first remark wasn't clearly pointed out by me. I think for Developers or die hard fans, they will be happy if this is allowing them to help SE ...as in a way they really listening to the fans |

Well, at one point not too long ago some thought a 1Ghz processor was overkill and just before that, we thought do we really need GPS on a phone? Now they a smartphone staples, so SE should think along these lines (not just the quad-core thing) if they're serious to take on the leading role.
