Still have the P800, P900, (lying in my drawer) P990....My P990 is still going strong after all these years.... Big UIQ fan.... Hated the fact it got discontinued... these phones used to kick some major smartphone butt in their hay day.

I think carries on with the same design ideas they've had for years. Even the strategy haven't changed much. They release a overpriced and usually delayed high-end device and them use its tech to make cheaper phones all the way to the low end. The only thing that changed is android. realized, just like the entire market, that there's no future in win mo. Since uiq was also a failure, there weren't much choices to go for since symbian is outdated by now. Android is working and :se is enjoying it. I just wonder for how long. If they keep delaying OS updates like that, they might become again irrelevant in the high-end space.
You have a point there but thinking about it, even HTC for instance, release new phones that almost look identical from the last. You see that same design carried over from the iphone 3GS to iPhone 4 too. Even with Nokia I noticed that too. I guess it's just their trademark that when you see the phone you'll know it's SE or HTC etc. For me, the most important aspect is the overall performance of the phone and I can say SE hasn't failed on that. My X10 is such a reliable phone to have and I just got it a over a month ago from timtechs. Lately I've been getting SE phones and so happy with it |

I actually think that SE is at its best. Android is the best OS out there and SE got it right with the x10 which is one of the best phones 4inch screen, 8 mp (much much better than the one you find on the w995), android, 1ghz cpu and it's a beauty. Also I know you said that you don't like the minis but hold a x10 mini pro and you will like it. The minis are the only touchscreens that can be control only with your thumb and that's where the "tiny" 2.6 inch screen takes place. I have a mini pro myself and i am like: damn fast phones. 600mhz cpu for a qvga screen. anwz if you are not into smartphones then don't forget about the hazel and elm. Great phones. Good batterylife, good camera, good vga recording, excellent screens, solidly built. And SE realised that fastport was stupid and m2 had no chance so they are now using usbs and microSD
still miss my w900 though

Techradar review of SE X10 android phone
Thought I'd throw that in
It's only recently that SE's CEO (Bert Nordberg) was finally able to overcome the fragmented, entrenched & very conservative management in the company - replacing them with younger & more innovative talent. You can credit the Android direction, the phasing out of the M2 in favor of microSD card, intro of the 3.5mm earphone jack etc to this development. New directions in the realm of the Playstation & other Sony products too but that's off-topic here.
Unfortunately I think the new direction also means the elimination of the Cybershot, Walkman & other SE variants into a few converged feature phone products - the Elm/Hazel being the forerunners of these new product lines.

I still think there phones nowadays are still a little overpriced, and that for a price of a Zylo you can get way better phones by other manufacturers.

But no touchscreen, crappy default UI [no android, symbian] which is what i find bad about phones now. all there good touchscreens are over £150 and are tiny.

but today, everyone wants qwerty+touchscreen. a200 is too boring for this generation of technology and lacks many features.

Hmmm, not everybody wants touch screens. And if you look more closely is still catering for everyone with their fair share of touch screen phones & traditional keypads. You miss the point that not everyone wants complicated touch screen phones & over the top features there is alot of people who still like to just talk text & the odd bit of browsing. My brother recently used his first touch screen phone & hated it

I understand that, but don't you think have way too many non-touch screens that are priced at £100-£150 and pretty much no touch screens that are priced at £100-£150 apart from Yendo and X10 Mini which are both a little low on features and are small.
