Put it in your pocket you get testicular cancers, in your top pocket you get breast cancer, women who put it in a bag are likely to get breast cancer. Sleep with your phone near you when you are in bed and you are likely to get brain problems, you can't win!

...and the scientific proof for that is... where?
I've been using mobiles since the first analogue days in 1986 and I'm still (aparantly) as healthy as I ever was (though I think my liver died several years ago from enjoying too much Bacardi!)

Same here since 1997 & also there are many other electronic devices around us daily that emit radiation although we don't go round with microwave ovens stuck to our heads

I'm not going to die am I! I still think no thats stupid.. and if its true who cares. not like anyone is going to stop anyways.

Actually, that is a good point Masseur, there have only been linked symptoms, not proved ones. I think it's the media (once again) making things out to be a lot worse than what they really are. I had a phone when I was 4, 1999, and have used them daily since, and if my brain is really heating up that's just climate change, right?

Think of it like this, throughout your body there are potential cancer cells but there are a number of mechanisms that are able to control them by slowing them down, repairing or killing them. Different stress types like radiation can really mess up a cell in which case the body reacts to stop it becoming an issue but there is a threshold that if exceeded, the cell will go nuts. You need thermodynamic stability so if suddenly the cell grows really fast, a repair gene will go crazy as well to control it which will cause a chain reaction resulting in cellular madness.
I work with cancer and these cells are so messed up. Under a microscope, an hour of strong UV light causes huge genetic change. Its better to be safe so minimise exposure and be sensible about it i.e. you don't need to sleep with it right next to your head and use a hands free kit if you're chatting for ages.
I don't want to scaremonger and its true that there is no concrete evidence but its a possibility so be careful. Cancer can be treated by chemotherapy but that kills many of your healthy cells as well. The only other option is surgery and the success really depends on where the tumour is. You may not be affected by mobiles but I know people who have been and have had surgery as well. |
