Thank you very much sky hi
Do you know of any fixes to the youtube problem?
and so I dont have to worry about the G and the H appearing at the same time and the G disappearing? What is going on when this happens?
Thanks |

If 3G network is present, your phone will display H. Mine (generic nordic) used to show "3G" during idle network time and H during data transfer. When 3G network is present the small letter above bars will always indicate G. In an area where 3G is not available the small letter will change to E if the gprs network is 2,5G - EDGE.
I thought G was for GPRS...
Yes it is! The small letter will be a G if the network available is GPRS and an E if the network is GPRS with EDGE added for higher transfer rates. As stated above, during HSDPA reception the small letter would always be G accompanied by 3G/H within the square shaped symbol. |

Unfortunately I haven't found any solution. I use the YouTube site through the browser instead.
As for what happens when you have G and H at the same time, simply nothing to worry about.

So when there is no G and only the H, does that mean I don't have HSDPA reception??
and sky hi, do you have the same problem as me with the phone lagging after using the youtube application and watching a video with it?
and when I have just the H should I worry about that? Should I be concerned for the disappearing of the G?

When you first turn your phone on. The phone checks the signal's it can receive. One test is to check for internet signal. After booting up the G symbol will disappear as the phone is disconnected from the internet. Older A100 and early A200 platform phones showed the G or E symbol constantly along with whatever signal you can receive (along with a symbol for 3g if your in an supported area). Basically. When you're phone is on it should display the standard signal along with either a 3g or H symbol when your in a supported area. When you send a picture message or connect to the internet the G/E symbol appears along with a Globe symbol. This shows your connected to the internet. You will also still see 3g or H symbol as well. When you disconnect from the internet the globe symbol and the G symbol will disappear after a few seconds.
If you want to turn 3g and H off. Go to settings, connectivity, mobile networks and select the connection you want. Turning off the 3g signal when your not using it can also save battery as well. HTH

Well in my phone service, I don't have internet/data. In fact it is blocked in a way so that I cannot use it and don't accidentally use it. If I try to use the browser using the service, I get "Connection Error". I use wifi for everything
My phone when it turns on, gets the G shortly after it turns on. Then a while later (a few days) the G goes away and I have just the H and the status bars with no letter above them.
Am I not getting HSDPA Reception then?

HSDPA relates to the type of internet connection available in the area your in. Even though you've not got a data plan in your subscription. Your phone will still search for one and show the symbols.
People have given you the answers you need and there's no other explanation but from what I'm reading it seems no matter what is being said your still not going to accept it. Might as well talk to a brick wall.
