Cheers for getting back to me... I listen to the same type of music... I will look into these earphones more and hopefully get them very soon unless someone else can suggest otherwise...
Your best bet would be to get them from somewhere like Play.com or Amazon for the cheapest price. I wanted them quick at the time so just got them from a Sony centre but they are stupidly more expensive. By the way never get things like headphones from play traders or amazon traders only directly from the main company as there are fakes sold by traders.

I think theres a hygiene thing with headphones where places don't accept returns, I was told that at the Sony Centre when sold over the counter. Normally online policies with the long distance selling act are once opened they wont accept returns, I may be wrong though.
Seriously though you will love the Sony MDR-EX500LP in ear headphones the sound quality is awesome you get a real true bass and they are even louder than previous Sony models, you won't go wrong with them ok a little more expensive than other makes but they are quality. I get people asking all the time what headphones are they as they look good too

If you do go for the 500s then Tesco have them for less than £50, £20 less than the Sony Store, + Double Clubcard points:

Would definitely +1 Toney's sentiments re: traders. There are loads of knock-offs of the better quality headphones doing the rounds.
Good luck.

Thats a good price, well worth going to your local Tescos then and at least you know your getting a genuine product.
Steer well clear of Play.com traders or amazon traders that sell the older MDR-EX500LP headphones as I bought a pair from a Play.com trader and they were fake as well as the half price rubbish. They would be real at Tesco though Tesco wouldn't sell fake ones.
The ones to go for are the newer Sony MDREX500 as they are louder and that is a good price at Tesco

They sound very good straight out of the box with deep bass , balanced treble and an open soundstage , and they are getting better the more i use them ( about an hour a day ).
I bought them from the Ricoh Arena Tesco in Coventry. |

I have the sony mdr-ex500 and they are really bad in sound and bass compared with my sennheiser ie6 and sennheiser ie7. And the sony look really strange when you wear it!
People don't buy the sony if you can buy sennheiser in ears
